Phoebe one of our Cub Scouts is running for Miami County Fair Sweetheart this year. She is selling donation tickets $1 each or 6 for $5. Drawing will be held during Mutton Busting July 27th. Prizes include $100 at Price Chopper, a night stay at Paola Inn & Suites and gift certificates for other local businesses.

With the help of one parent, one boy scout and an Eagle Scout, the pack hiked from the church to Sonic. There they all got slushes. On the hike they learned the importance of being aware while walking through a neighborhood. How to safely cross the street at an intersection. How to be aware of traffic near them, because we know some drivers get distracted.
After enjoying their slushes, they hiked back to the church.

Great job scouts! Tonight we did an alphabet scavenger hunt in John Brown Park. They split in 4 groups and earned points per letter. 2 points if they found something in the park that started with a letter. 1 point if they found a word in the park using all the signs full of information that started with a letter. Then 1/2 a point if they got a letter of a vehicle like we've all done on a car trip.
Our winners scored 48 points! Next week they will get their prize.

I have to say they all came up with crazy ways to get words/items. Q=quantity (of rocks) and z= zillion (of rocks).

Tonight the Cub Scouts and family members cleaned out the flowerbeds at Presbyterian Church. We pulled weeds, trimmed bushes, planted flowers & plants, we dug holes for flower bulbs and put down new mulch. It was a lot of work! Using teamwork we managed to get it done. Looks nice now but we can't wait to see all the flowers!

Family fun day was a hit even with the cold temps. We made boats and raced them. We dug out dinosaurs. Ate lunch. Planted veggies and flowers. We did salt art. We tie-dyed neckerchiefs. We made tornadoes in a bottle. We played. We ate dinner.

Tonight we did 3 different things that had a science aspect to them.
1st we drew with glue. Sprinkled with salt. Then dropped water color paint. We watched the salt crystals spread the colors.
2nd we dropped paint onto a piece of paper. Then using straws we blew the paint around. Showing how wind can move.
3rd we had Joe mixing up our candy mixture on the stove. Then the kids picked the flavor and color. Then with the help of Russell and Anna the kids put sugar coated sticks into the jars. Next week we should have rock candy from the crystals growing on the sticks.

Today is 3rd Monday of the month which means no meeting. Next meeting will be March 27th 6pm where we will work on science experiments
