A Lasting Legacy for Animals: CFL Opens Karen Jean Rudek Grant Round! ✨👏🏼
Grants of $500 to $10,000 available to horse and dog shelters, sanctuaries and rescue facilities in three Lake-area counties
A legacy of compassion is creating new opportunities to help horses and dogs across the Lake area. The Community Foundation of the Lake (CFL) is accepting applications for the Karen Jean Rudek Grant Round, offering awards of $500 to $10,000 to eligible nonprofits in Camden, Miller and Morgan counties.
The application period opened Sept. 29, 2026, and closes Oct. 29, 2026. Funding is designated for horse and dog shelters, sanctuaries and rescue facilities. Grants cannot be used for salaries, utilities or rent.
The grant opportunity is made possible by a field-of-interest fund established through the Karen Jean Rudek Trust, turning one donor’s commitment to animal welfare into continuing support for local organizations.
Endowed funds, such as the Karen Jean Rudek Fund, allow donors to create a lasting legacy while supporting causes close to their hearts. The principal is invested, and a portion of the fund’s value is distributed annually through grants, providing a continuing source of community support in perpetuity. By establishing an endowment with CFL, individuals and families can help ensure that resources remain available to meet local needs for generations to come.
Eligible nonprofits are encouraged to apply through the “Find Grants” section of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks website before the Oct. 29 deadline.
