Today, the United Appeal Board of Directors distributed $11,000 from the funds donated during the 2025 campaign! (A balance remains in the United Appeal account to help kick-start next year’s drive.)

Because of your generosity, 22 organizations will continue their missions serving the Ortonville community and surrounding area. Each organization plays an important role in strengthening our community—many operating entirely through volunteer efforts—and all making a difference in the lives of others every single day.

Funds donated to the United Appeal of Ortonville were distributed Wednesday, March 12th, at the Ortonville Community Center. The United Appeal took in approximately $13,500 in 2024, and of that, $11,000 in donations were distributed. Funds held back will help cover the costs for the 2025 campaign.

To qualify for funds, each organization must demonstrate that its work directly impacts the community of Ortonville and that it is a certified 501(c)3 organization. Twenty-two organizations met that criteria and will use these funds to continue their mission. Many of these organizations rely solely on volunteer input and donations, but every organization substantially impacts this community, and collectively, they serve all age groups and demographics. They all shared a resounding “Thank you” to the community for ongoing support.

The United Appeal of Ortonville Board is John Thomas, Chairperson; Vanessa Lhotka-Meyer, Vice-Chair; Marilee Haukos, Secretary; and Courtnie Rudebusch, Treasurer. Donations to the United Appeal Campaign can be made year-round at Cenbank.

United Appeal mailers will arrive this week! We ask you to be generous when making your end of year donations. This program makes a year round impact on the organizations that benefit from it. Today the United Appeal Funds for the 2023 drive were distributed. $13,919.50 were donated for the 23-24 drive. Of this, approximately $1,500 are reserved for the following years drive costs. Thank you to all the donors and to all organizations that are so greatly deserving of the support - they are making big impacts on the Ortonville area!

After 40+ years, the United Appeal board accepted the resignation of long-time board Treasurer Ethel Swenson. Ethel has served as treasurer for many organizations throughout the area for many years & has been an interictal part of this organization. Thank you Ethel! Filling Ethel's big shoes is Courtney Rudebusch. Ortonville Area Health Services accountant.
