Orting Jr Cardinals Football & Cheer

Orting Jr Cardinals Football & Cheer We are a youth football and cheerleading organization, who proudly participates in the Nisqually Junior Football League. Cardinals make each other better.

The Orting Junior Cardinal Football and Cheer Program exists to educate and empower our student athletes by equipping them with the foundational elements of football and cheerleading. Deeply rooted in our core values of teamwork, leadership, commitment, responsibility and fun, we aspire to leave a lasting legacy of Cardinal spirit, in Orting and beyond. As an organization, we strive to uphold thes

e five core values:

Teamwork - we believe in creating a culture of “having each other’s back”, whether it’s on the field, in the classroom or out in our community. Leadership - we want to develop leaders, not just in football and cheer, but in our community and beyond. Our hope is that the leadership skills they gain from our program benefit them beyond graduation from OJC, into high school, college and adulthood. Commitment - we want our athletes to go out there everyday and give it their absolute best. Our athletes value showing up early and putting the work in at practice, so they are game day ready, each week. Responsibility - we expect our athletes to own their actions and behaviors. They have a responsibility to them selves, to their coaches, teammates and the organization to be an upstanding student, friend and community member on and off the field. Fun - last but not least, while each of the above values are important to us, we want our athletes to have fun learning, growing, and being apart of OJC Football & Cheer. Our organization is 100% volunteer led. Last year, just in practices alone, our coaches gave around 104 hours. You can find our volunteers helping out in the snack shack during practices, announcing games proudly in our home stadium booth or slinging those burgers at our game day concessions (heck - you may see a coach or two back there)! We proudly believe in the Orting Junior Cardinal family and we hope you’ll join us.

To past and present Orting Junior Cardinal Football & Cheer families:

In recent weeks, we received communication that a new football and cheer program was going to be formed in Orting. In full transparency, we were not asked to meet to discuss how we might merge together to best support the future of the program and ensure all our athletes and families success.

While this is certainly not the way we hoped our program would transition into new leadership, the athletes of Orting will always be our first priority.

We are continuing to work out details with the new program but the Orting Junior Cardinal Football & Cheer organization will cease to exist. Given this, please direct all questions to the Orting Football & Cheer Association:

We have so many people we want to thank. Thank you to all of our families who trusted us with their kids and cheered them on every game day. For those who volunteered in countless ways, thank you for partnering with us to support the success of the program. From the Fishers endless hours slinging those Cardinal Burgers at concessions to Sandy Shirley from the Wayside giving us her special Cardinal Burger recipe to all the coaches who gave hundreds of hours drafting up play schemes or new cheers to make us stand out - THANK YOU!

To the Orting School District for working with us to secure facilities and move things around last minute due to weather or high school athletics - thank you for your partnership!

To the Orting Lions Club, you have been a tremendous partner to us and we are so grateful. From field usage that went from Summer to deep Fall to the Snack Shack - many, many memories were made at the Lions Field and you are certainly to thank.

To our Board and Staff, there are not enough words to thank you for all the late night meetings or phone calls, 12 hr days at the stadium for home games, countless hours on the phone with vendors, and everything in between. Your passion for the program and making it the best for Orting athletes was the heart and soul of OJC.

Our accomplishments outnumber the hardships, and we have many to be proud of:
* Undefeated seasons and NJFL Championships
* Earning a bid to the National Football Hall of Fame Championship
* Cheerleaders earning All American, performing in Disney World and college bowl games
* Shout outs providing sponsorships for kids to be able to play football and cheer on the sidelines
* Athletes going on to play at the high school and college level

And there are so many more!!! As we step into this new chapter, we will always be huge fans of Orting athletes and are proud of what they’ve already accomplished and will in the future.

Reminder!!! TUESDAY is your last opportunity for gear turn in!

Thanks everyone for your patience. We really tried to wait to do gear return until we had pictures rescheduled up with the vendor. Which has proven quite difficult.

So we’ll be moving forward and doing gear turn in this Thursday 2/12 from 4-6pm and Tuesday 2/17 from 4-6pm at the Lions Field trailer. Please make sure gear is wiped down. Thanks all!

We can confirm that refunds were issued this evening for Spring 5v5, 7v7 and girls flag. From SportsEngine: These can take 5-10 business days for it to appear in your account.

Thanks again for your patience and understanding.

Alright families, we have made the unfortunate decision that we will not be able to move forward with Spring 5v5, 7v7 or Girls Flag.

We will begin processing refunds tomorrow - though some may happen sooner. Just depends on availability time of our volunteer.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. And we look forward to Fall Tackle & Sideline Cheer!

UPDATED!!!

Morning families!

We’ve seen some posts circulating on social media so we just wanted to clarify why no further info on 7v7, 5v5 and girls flag has been communicated out.

We are not withholding info - we just don’t have anything additonal or new to share. Our hope is to secure the turf field at the stadium for Saturday practices. Please note: THIS IS NOT CONFIRMED. If we cannot be at the stadium, practices will be held at the Lions Field.

As far as tournaments, we will mostly do the Sunday ones, except for Mother's Day weekend which will be a Saturday tournament. It does appear the Farm League posted a tentative schedule, which is included below. It is unsure if we will participate in all Sundays or a selection of what’s listed.

We also are still actively trying to register kids to ensure we have full teams to be able to compete. To be honest, this is a huge need right now. This is where we currently stand:

3/4 - 11 signups
5/6 - 5 signups
7/8 - 1 signup

Girls Flag - 3 signups

We simply cannot move forward with one team. With league costs/field fees etc, it would not be financially responsible for the organization.

Registration is still open and we will keep it open for one more week to try and fill teams so please share out (link in comments below). If we do not have full teams, we will not participate this year and refunds will be made.

We understand it can be frustrating not having all the details, but we ensure you we are trying to firm things up to be able to communicate out.

As a reminder, we are 100% volunteer ran, so many of us are doing this in addition to full time to jobs so we really appreciate your patience and understanding.
