Welcome!! As a US Army veteran I spend a lot of time trying to come to grips with the issues other veterans have when they leave the fight. Homelessness. Depression. Su***de. They are many and they are multi-faceted. They require vast resources and extensive time frames to solve. It can be overwhelming to consider. Instead of giving up in the face of these odds, I had an epiphany: why not use the skills and resources I already have to attack this problem? So that is what I did. Some time last year I registered the Imperiya Veteran Foundation as a nonprofit with the State of WA My vision was for the Foundation as an offshoot of Imperiya Barbell WORX to help veterans change their lives through fitness. After the military many vets feel they lost the structure, drive, and dedication in their lives. They gain unhealthy weight. They stop moving. They get in a rut. They had a purpose when they were in the military. They were the tip of the spear in some form or another. Now they work at a job they may not like and feel unappreciated and underutilized. To top it all off they have settled into an unhealthy existence because of it. The Imperiya Veteran Foundation aims to assist veterans with the training, leadership, planning, and financial assistance to get back on track through fitness. Being fit and being active have a documented positive effect on mental health. Maybe they always wanted to run a 5k, compete in a fitness competition, or hike the Appalachian trail but don't have the motivation, skills, or financial means to do so now. That's where we come in. It's time to find your new mission!!
