Hello Everyone! Did you just receive this letter from Peña's Disposal, Inc.? It's telling us that they want to raise our rates again! What do you think? Do you feel Peña's deserves more money? Many of us are struggling to pay all our bills. Inflation keeps going up as well as gas prices. Is it fair for Peña's to get more money? Please share how you feel. Peña's is going to the Board of Supervisors on May 5th to tell the County to approve its rate increase. Should we - the customers - agree?

Tuesday, April 21st was California Agricultural Day! There were so many vendors and government agencies at the fair despite the pouring rain! We were all so happy to meet again Dr. St. Hilaire, Dean of the Jordan School of Agricultural Sciences & Technology @ California State University, Fresno.

Tuesday was a rainy day in Sacramento. Here we are - members of the Filipino Farmers Cooperative - walking to the Capitol building to join other small-scale farmers. We came to voice our strong support for the CDFA (California Department Food & Agriculture) California Underserved & Small Producer Program (CUSP).

This Saturday's Philippine Consular Outreach Mission held in Fresno was a great success! Vice Consul Hannah Go and her amazing staff served nearly 200 individuals. Their teamwork, hard work, and dedication made it possible to provide a wide-range of services: Philippine passport renewal services, dual citizenship (including the oath-swearing ceremony), overseas voter registration, notarization service, and fielding questions from the attendees. The Consular staff worked tirelessly throughout the day to ensure that each appointment was fulfilled. Many staff members even skipped their breaks to accommodate late arrivals and walk-ins! This reflects their dedication to the Filipino communities of the California Central Valley. It’s clear that Vice Consul Go and her staff care deeply and are committed to serving our needs. Clarita "Laling" Manguague Watson was taken away from us too soon. Life is short. They say it takes a minute to find a special person. An hour to appreciate them. A day to love them. But an entire lifetime to forget them. Our memories of Laling will last our lifetimes.

Today, we attended the funeral and burial service of our dear friend, Clarita "Laling" Manguague Watson. She was a devoted community volunteer together with her husband Sedong and their precious doggie, Tyler. Every week, she drove from her farm in Kerman to Orosi bringing Sedong & Tyler. She was always all work once the food distribution began. Yet, she made our time together a joyful one while serving the community and people she loved. Laling, rest in peace. You will always be in our hearts.
