Before Fall Family Fun Day, there was Spooktacular!

We're taking a trip back to October 2012 for a look at one of Katahdin Area Council's favorite fall traditions.

The name may have changed, but the fun, friendship, and memories being made are still going strong!

With another Fall Family Fun Day just behind us, we thought it was the perfect time to revisit some of those earlier memories.

Why Scouting Wednesday

Leadership isn’t something young people have to wait until adulthood to experience.

In Scouting, young people get opportunities to lead, teach, make decisions, solve problems, and help others succeed. Sometimes leadership means standing in front of a group. Other times, it’s as simple as taking the time to show another Scout how to do something new.

With each opportunity, Scouts learn that leadership isn’t just about being in charge. It’s about helping the people around you grow, too.

Because leaders don’t just happen. They grow.

Why Scouting Wednesday

Sometimes the people who make an adventure memorable are the ones you meet along the way.

Scouting gives young people a place to connect, build friendships, share experiences, and be part of something together. Whether they’re spending a week at camp, working toward a goal, or simply laughing with friends after a long day, those connections can become an important part of the Scouting experience.

For some Scouts, joining a pack, troop, crew, or post means finding a whole new group of people to learn, grow, and have fun with.

Because sometimes you find your people along the way.

Fall Family Fun Day is THIS WEEKEND, October 9–11 at Camp Roosevelt! There’s still time to register and join us for a weekend of archery, BB shooting, Trunk or Treat, STEAM activities, handicraft, outdoor cooking, and plenty of fall fun!

New Cub Scouts attend FREE! If your Cub Scout joined this fall, their weekend is free — and don’t forget to bring their rocket because we’ll be launching them at the event!

$25 per youth | FREE for Cub Scouts who joined this fall

Got an empty 2-liter bottle? We can put it to good use!

We’re getting ready for Fall Family Fun Day at Camp Roosevelt, and we need empty 2-liter soda bottles for one of our hands-on STEAM activities. Our Cub Scouts will be turning them into air-powered bottle rockets!

If you have any bottles you can spare, please rinse them out and drop them off at the Katahdin Area Council office by Wednesday, October 7.

“I don’t know how” is often just the beginning.

In Scouting, young people get the chance to try new things, learn new skills, make mistakes, try again, and experience that moment when it finally clicks.

Whether it’s building a fire, navigating a trail, cooking a meal, or taking on something they’ve never done before, every new skill builds a little more confidence for the next challenge.

Because “I don’t know how” can become “I did it.”
