It is a for-profit company, but it uses most of the profit to plant trees that benefit the climate and the communities around them. Not only does Ecosia plant lots of trees through your searches, Ecosia is powered by 100% renewable energy. In fact, they generate twice as much solar power as they need to power the search engine. Ecosia is carbon negative and contribute their excess solar electricity to the grid.
