Fellow SAR members;
It is with profound sadness that I share the passing of Rick Miller, our cherished teammate and leader, earlier this afternoon. Rick was surrounded by his loving family and his devoted friend, Roger Burnham, in his final moments.

This is a heartbreaking loss—not only for Rick’s family and friends, but also for all of us at the Clearwater County Sheriff's Office, Clearwater County Sheriff's Search and Rescue, and Idaho State Search and Rescue. Rick’s dedication, strength, and spirit touched many lives, and his absence will be deeply felt.

Please continue to keep Rick’s loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. We will share more details as the family feels ready.

Thank you to the Search and Rescue, Back Country and Deputy crew that assisted in this yesterday. I am so honored to have had an awesome team to lead yesterday. And thank you to the civilians that helped with the location and recovery.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family who lost their father, husband, son, in-law and friend yesterday.
