At our Friday meeting we welcomed guest Rotarian Bill Pfinsgraff who is a member of the Rotary Club of Couer D' Alene. Barbara-Lee Jordan presented our club flag to Bill. He will present it to his club upon his return. In his professional role Bill works directly with generous Idahoans, giving circles, and affiliates to support philanthropy that strengthens North Idaho’s communities. He will help individuals, families, and businesses connect their charitable giving with meaningful causes, ensuring nonprofit organizations have the resources they need to address critical challenges. Welcome Bill and we look forward to more visits and learn of your work in our community.

In 2020, Rotary added "Supporting the Environment" as its seventh area of focus. Rotary members have long had an interest in the environment. Paul Harris not only founded Rotary, but in 1908 he was a founding member of The Prairie Club in Chicago, which promotes recreation in nature and supports conservation activities. As we have great interest in environment, so do other organizations. This Friday, Julian Matthews from the Nez Perce Tribe will make a presentation on Protecting the Environment A Community Conversation. As always, we extend an open invitation to all who would like to listen in on this presentation this Friday, May 1st at 12 noon at the Ponderosa Restaurant. PolioPlus is widely considered Rotary International's largest and most significant humanitarian initiative. Rotary has contributed over
2.7 billion and countless volunteer hours to vaccinate more than 3 billion children against polio. Rotary members have contributed over $2.1 billion to the PolioPlus fund to fight polio since 1985. These funds, combined with matching contributions from partners like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, have helped immunize more than 3 billion children and reduce global polio cases by over 99%. This Friday Orofino Rotary Club President Phil Peterson will make a presentation on the Rotary's Polio Plus program as well as background on the polio disease. We invite the public to come and listen in and learn how to be a part of this huge initiative on this coming Friday, April 3rd at 12noon at the Ponderosa Restaurant.
