Well, we did it, family. 🤙

Four weeks ago, we set out to raise $37,000 to help cover new bathrooms and building renovations.

You gave $38,457.88.

So many of you showed up and gave generously, and now we can get to work making more room at GLB for the many new faces who've been joining the GLB fam.

Onward and upward!

The early church theologian Saint Augustine once reflected on stealing pears from a neighbor’s tree as a young boy. He later confessed:

“It was not the pears that my unhappy soul desired, but the crime itself.”

In other words, stealing is rarely just about the thing being taken. It’s often the soul’s attempt to feel powerful—to feel alive when something inside us feels empty.

Join us this Sunday as we unpack the 8th Commandment—“You shall not steal”—and look beneath what our hands take to uncover what our hearts are truly seeking.

Good News for Kleptomaniacs starts at 10 AM at your Refuge-by-the-Sea.

Our culture doesn’t merely sell s*x as pleasure—it sells s*x as salvation. It promises identity, intimacy, acceptance, and freedom, but somehow leaves us thirstier than before. And though S*x is an amazing gift from God, it makes a lousy Savior.

Join us Sunday as we expose the counterfeit God of S*x - as Jesus offers Good News for "Thirsty" souls.

Living waters flow every Sunday at your Refuge-by-the-sea 🤙

P.S. If you have kids and haven't had "the talk" yet - then it's probably best to keep them out of service. It'll save you an "interesting" car ride home. 🙉

A starry night can humble us. If the gospel of Jesus Christ doesn't, ask God for grace. Your works aren't enough, but He loves you and sent His Son. Faith, not works, removes boasting and truly humbles us. The gospel excludes boasting.

Have you ever experienced the sublime? Have you seen or heard something that has momentarily stopped your breath in the best way? Maybe you've visited the Grand Canyon or seen a gorgeous waterfall and heard its roar. Or, on a clear night with no light pollution you felt the reality of our suspension in starry space. Maybe you witnessed the birth of your child and there were rendered absolutely dumbfounded.

Whatever it may have been, in its presence you were humbled, aware that you were in the presence of something far beyond your ability to fully comprehend.

According to the Apostle Paul, the Law of God--when pondered and appropriated rightly--has the same effect. But more so does the gospel of God's free gift of grace in Christ. Join us this Sunday to to encounter again the sublime gospel of God: that which unifies all.

When Jesus cried 'My God, why have you forsaken me?' on the cross, it wasn't a metaphor. He experienced the ultimate separation from the Father, dying the death sin deserves. But because it is finished in Him, we don't have to. That sacrifice paid the price. Christ
