On September 11, 2026, we will gather together to honor the 343 firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers, 8 EMS personnel, and all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

We invite our fellow firefighters, first responders, friends, family, and members of our community to join us as we climb in remembrance and pay tribute to the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Celebrating 20 Years of Service 🚒

Today, we’re proud to recognize Captain Randall and Captain Rannie as they celebrate 20 years of dedicated service with the Ormond Beach Fire Department!

For two decades, these members have answered the call, served our community, and helped make our department stronger. Both Captains are tremendous assets to our organization and bring a wealth of experience, leadership, and dedication to everything they do.

🚒 Training Above the Ground! 🧗‍♂️

Members of the Ormond Beach Fire Department recently participated in a rope rescue training hosted by Volusia County Fire Rescue and Elevated Safety.

During the training, our crews had the opportunity to put their rope rescue skills to work on the Ormond Beach Water Tower, approximately 160 feet above the ground. Members practiced climbing, rappelling, and performing technical rescue operations from the tower.

Training in challenging environments like this allows our crews to build confidence, sharpen their skills, and be better prepared for real-world emergencies involving elevated structures.

🚨 I-95 SEMI-TRAILER CRASH 🚨

On Friday our crews responded to I-95 for a single-vehicle semi-trailer motor vehicle accident on I-95 around the 272MM. Upon arrival, crews found one patient requiring extrication from the vehicle.

Firefighters worked quickly to safely extricate the patient, who was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Units responding included E94, SQE13, and Battalion 90, along with our partners from Volusia County EMS, Volusia Sheriff’s Office, and Florida Highway Patrol.

🚒 Residential Structure Fire 🔥

Ormond Beach Fire Department crews responded to a reported fire involving a single-story mobile home. Engine 92 was in the area and arrived on scene within 2 minutes of being dispatched and quickly went to work, achieving a quick knockdown of the fire and preventing further damage.

One occupant was transported to Halifax Medical Center as a trauma alert.

We would also like to thank Volusia County Fire Rescue and the Holly Hill Fire Department for their assistance on scene. Incidents like this highlight the importance of working together and maintaining strong relationships with our neighboring agencies.

Now in its fourth year, the annual Ethan Wilson Memorial Scholarships honor Ethan Wilson, a firefighter and paramedic with the Ormond Beach Fire Department who died in 2023 after a surfing accident.

This week, the Ormond Beach Fire Department had the incredible opportunity to conduct a week-long acquired structure training, providing our firefighters with realistic, hands-on experience in an environment that closely mirrors the challenges faced on the fireground.

Throughout the week, crews trained alongside our partners from Volusia County Fire Rescue, Holly Hill Fire Department, and Flagler County Fire Rescue. Working together on structure fire scenarios and roof operations allowed personnel to strengthen the skills, communication, and coordination that are essential when multiple agencies respond to the same emergency.

While training props and burn buildings are valuable tools, nothing compares to the experience gained from operating in a real structure. Opportunities like this help prepare our firefighters to perform safely and effectively when our community needs us most.

A special thank you to everyone who helped make this training possible and to our neighboring agencies for their commitment to training together. By practicing together, we build stronger partnerships, improve interoperability, and ensure we are ready to provide the highest level of service to the citizens we serve.
