Community Development Partnership We create opportunities for people to live, work and thrive on the Lower Cape.

The Community Development Partnership leads the Lower Cape in building a diverse year-round community of people who can afford to live, work and thrive here. To accomplish our mission, we promote, develop and manage affordable housing; nurture the launch and growth of small businesses; and facilitate collaboration with business, non-profit, and government partners. Since its inception in 1992, the CDP has become a leader in developing and delivering innovative programs that foster an economically and environmentally sustainable Lower Cape Cod community. As a community development corporation, we value economic, racial & ethnic diversity and foster a sense of inclusion and participation of local area residents, business owners, and leaders. Throughout our thirty-year history, the CDP has continued to adapt to the ever-shifting economic and demographic landscape of our area while maintaining our commitment to strengthening and expanding the building blocks of a vibrant local economy. The CDP is a steward for critical community resources such as stable and affordable rental housing for low-and-moderate-income residents, micro-loan funds that help unleash the entrepreneurial spirit in the region, and fishing quota that has preserved our small-scale fishing fleet.

A great afternoon celebrating the ribbon cutting at Putnam Farms in Orleans! 🌱 (photos from Town of Orleans, MA)

It was inspiring to hear the vision behind this project and what it means for our region. Inspiring words were shared by the local Orleans Select Board, and state leaders including Ashley Randle Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources, State Representative Hadley Luddy, Lower Cape Outreach Council CEO, Katherine Wibby, community friends & partners and one of the farmers who will be working the shared land.

One message came through loud and clear: Putnam Farm is a model for how communities can come together to address food insecurity, support local agriculture, and create lasting opportunities for our neighbors.

Congratulations to everyone who helped bring this vision to life! We're excited to see the impact this project will have on Orleans, the Lower Cape, and beyond.

CDP’s Business & Credit team is heading back to The Commons, Provincetown for free, in-person office hours — offering one-on-one support for entrepreneurs and business owners at every stage, whether you’re exploring an idea, looking for financing, or ready to grow.

And we love being at the Provincetown Commons! It’s a creative, inspiring space filled with local art, artists, entrepreneurs, and workspaces — a fitting place to talk about ideas and what’s next for your business.

Our goal is to make CDP’s resources accessible to businesses throughout the Lower and Outer Cape, and sometimes that means bringing our team directly to you.

Our team was proud to join community development leaders from across Massachusetts at Massachusetts Association of CDCs (MACDC) 2026 Community Development Summit — a day of learning, connection, and conversations about strengthening communities across the Commonwealth.

CDP’s Pam Andersen also joined the panel “Plugging the Leak: How You Can Deploy an Employee Ownership Toolkit to Prevent Small Business Closures & Encourage Local Thriving in Your Community,” exploring how employee ownership can help prevent small business closures and keep jobs, services, and wealth rooted in our communities.

With 21% of Massachusetts small business owners planning to retire by 2030 — and only 33% with a succession plan in place — communities like ours have a lot at stake. Pam shared some of the challenges we’re seeing here on the Lower and Outer Cape, along with strategies CDP is using to support local business owners as they plan for the future. The conversation explored pathways to employee and community ownership that can help locally owned businesses remain local and continue contributing to thriving communities for generations to come.

We’re grateful for opportunities like the MACDC Summit to share what we’re learning, learn from our peers, and bring new ideas and strategies home to the Lower and Outer Cape.

🏠 10 years of learning. Collaboration. Progress.

For a decade, the Lower Cape Housing Institute has brought together municipal leaders, staff, advocates and community members to deepen our understanding of housing, learn from one another, and explore strategies that can move our communities forward.

A lot has changed in 10 years. Our communities have built knowledge, tested new approaches and strengthened their capacity to address one of our region’s most pressing challenges: creating housing that meets the needs of the people who live and work here.

As LCHI enters its 10th year, we’re building on that progress—and evolving the program for what comes next.

More conversation. More collaboration. More opportunities to turn learning into action.

Join us virtually this October for four evening sessions covering budgeting and credit, mortgage options, finding and making an offer on a home, inspections, insurance, closing, and resources that may help with down payments and other costs.

Sometimes, a great business idea just needs access to the right capital to get moving.

CDP’s Microloan Program helps Lower and Outer Cape small businesses start, grow, and navigate what comes next. We offer loans of up to $50,000 that can be used for working capital, real estate, machinery, equipment, and other investments that help local businesses build for the future.

We also offer smaller, short-term loans to help businesses manage immediate needs and opportunities.

Behind every loan is a local entrepreneur investing in their business—and in the year-round economy of our region.

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a month since the magic of Summer Evening with the CDP. ✨

Looking back at these images, we’re reminded that this is what community looks like: people coming together, listening and sharing, connecting with old friends and new ones, and simply enjoying a beautiful night on the Cape—all while supporting a place we love.

Since that evening, our team has been busy looking ahead. We’ve spent time planning, sharing ideas, setting goals, and imagining what’s possible for the year to come.

And we’re carrying the incredible momentum of August right into the next season.

Because summer may be winding down, but the energy isn’t. Here’s to locals’ summer, fall on Cape Cod, and continuing the work of building a Lower and Outer Cape where people can live, work, and thrive year-round.

Sometimes work can be pretty fun — especially when this is the view. 🌊 We even captured the beauty after the sun had set.

Another successful Provincetown Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours at Provincetown Marina, surrounded by the natural beauty that makes the Outer Cape such a special place to live, work and do business.

With Provincetown and Cape Cod Bay surrounding us, the fire pit keeping us warm, and delicious local shellfish from Mermaid Menu, it was a pretty perfect evening to connect with friends and colleagues from across the community.

And in true Provincetown fashion, the made sure he had our attention! đź””

A fun bit of history: the marina sits along historic Fishermen’s Wharf, a waterfront that has been part of Provincetown’s maritime story for more than a century. Today, Provincetown Marina welcomes vessels of all sizes with 100 slips and 100 moorings — continuing that connection between Provincetown and the sea.

Thank you to Provincetown Marina for hosting and Cape & Coast Bank for sponsoring such a beautiful evening — and to Mermaid Menu for giving us another delicious reminder of just how special our local waters are.

There really is nothing quite like doing business on the Outer Cape. đź’™
