The Community Development Partnership leads the Lower Cape in building a diverse year-round community of people who can afford to live, work and thrive here. To accomplish our mission, we promote, develop and manage affordable housing; nurture the launch and growth of small businesses; and facilitate collaboration with business, non-profit, and government partners. Since its inception in 1992, the

CDP has become a leader in developing and delivering innovative programs that foster an economically and environmentally sustainable Lower Cape Cod community. As a community development corporation, we value economic, racial & ethnic diversity and foster a sense of inclusion and participation of local area residents, business owners, and leaders. Throughout our thirty-year history, the CDP has continued to adapt to the ever-shifting economic and demographic landscape of our area while maintaining our commitment to strengthening and expanding the building blocks of a vibrant local economy. The CDP is a steward for critical community resources such as stable and affordable rental housing for low-and-moderate-income residents, micro-loan funds that help unleash the entrepreneurial spirit in the region, and fishing quota that has preserved our small-scale fishing fleet.

Today Andrea had the opportunity to meet with Kristin O'Malley from The Cape Cod Foundation to share more about the Community Development Partnership's priorities and explore ways we can continue working together to support the Lower and Outer Cape.

We're thrilled to see one of our Business & Credit Program clients, Salty Market Farmstand in Truro, getting national recognition in The New York Times!

In actor Murray Bartlett's list of favorite places in Provincetown (more like the Outer Cape 😉), he calls Salty Market "a local hangout" and praises its breakfast sandwiches on homemade biscuits as "epic."

We're proud to have supported entrepreneurs like Liam, whose vision has created a beloved gathering place for locals and visitors alike. Stories like this are a reminder that investing in small businesses helps strengthen the unique character and economy of the Outer Cape.

Homeownership Opportunity in Bourne!

Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod has extended the application deadline to July 20, 2026 for a three-bedroom affordable home in Pocasset (Bourne).

The maximum household income for the house is 80% of the area median income for Pocasset (Bourne). For a four-person household, the maximum income at 80% is $106,800. These income guidelines are adjusted annually.

The applicant household must be willing to commit 250-500 hours of sweat equity to build the home and have a housing need. The monthly housing payment (mortgage, taxes, insurance) for this home is estimated to be around $2,071, depending on the cost of taxes, insurance, changing interest rates, and other terms.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to attend a free application workshop, either in person or virtually.

Summer on the Lower and Outer Cape is a season built on connection.

Our local businesses, workers, families, and organizations all depend on one another to make this community thrive. As the busy season unfolds, we encourage everyone to lead with a little extra patience and grace. Behind every long line, busy restaurant, and full parking lot are hardworking people doing their best during one of the busiest times of the year.

At the same time, many employers are facing one of the region's greatest challenges—finding housing for the people who keep our local economy running. Housing, childcare, workforce availability, transportation, and small business success are all connected. When one piece struggles, our entire community feels the impact.

That's why the work of the CDP matters. From creating affordable homes to supporting local entrepreneurs, small businesses, and advancing regional solutions, we're helping build a stronger, more resilient Lower and Outer Cape where people can live, work, and thrive.

We're proud to share that CDP Community Organizer Ella Sampou (pictured speaking) will be contributing to a session at the Massachusetts Housing Partnership's 19th Housing Institute, joining housing leaders from across the Commonwealth to explore the unique challenges and opportunities of rural organizing.

As the Community Development Partnership celebrates 10 years of our own Housing Institute, Ella's participation reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting communities, housing authorities, and nonprofit partners in the early stages of affordable housing development while building local leadership and community engagement.

The conversations happening at events like these strengthen the collective work to create housing solutions that help people live, work, and thrive in the communities they call home.

We're excited for Ella share lessons from the Lower and Outer Cape and contribute to this important statewide dialogue.
