Well the 2026 Meet the Farmer’s event we sponsored with was a resounding success. And the new location was fantastic.

The whole point of the event is to educate our Cape Cod community about the importance of a resilient local food system and to meet the people who work diligently to make that happen. We thank everyone who came out in support of local agriculture.

We hope this inspires all those who came and even those who missed the event, to support the local growers and producers in our community all year long. In the summer many towns throughout the Cape offer farmer’s markets, but you can shop the Orleans Farmers Market Year Round, every Saturday, 50 weeks a year; November through April indoors , May through October on Old Colony Way.

Food is fresher, greener (in every way), and simply more delicious at the farmers market so come and visit us and make The Orleans Farmers Market part of your weekly shopping routine.

We thank you for your continued support as we head into our 32 Season!

Our gov’t shutdown update: Just a 1 cent balance left on a SNAP card can provide up to $120 of local produce. Don’t spend ALL your funds!

We’ve had calls both from people who desperately want to be part of our SNAP local food delivery program as well as from those who want to help get food to those in need. You can sign up for our CSA+ (for SNAP customers & now with a waiting list) or help out on our website.

The Orleans Farmers' Market is open year round on Saturday mornings and accepts HIP as well. HIP enables all SNAP card recipients to buy local produce and the funds are refunded back into the SNAP card - so the food is at no cost to the customer while the farmer is paid in full. In addition, Sustainable CAPE funds a “Bonus Match” of $10 weekly in farmers market tokens to purchase more produce. Depending upon your family size and if you attend every week, these program could provide up to $80-$120 in fresh fruits and vegetables for you and your family.

Just head to the OFM Info table and present your SNAP card (with at least 1 cent left on it).

HIP (the Healthy Incentive Program) is very near and dear to our hearts. Sustainable CAPE’s Founding Director, Francie Randolph, sat on the DTA Steering Committee to roll the innovative program out over the state of MA. It helps food insecure families and farmers at the same time - aligning with all that Sustainable CAPE does and illustrating the incredibly forward-thinking state that Massachusetts is.

Each one of us can make a difference, supporting each other through the challenges ahead.

Help spread the word. Local food is available for those in need!

This Old Farmer’s Almanac has a great article about Peat Moss. It is being banned all over the world and guess what—-there are sustainable alternatives. We will have more information at the market on Saturday. Are you aware of the environmental problems associated with the harvesting of peat?
