Calling all birders! Our Land Stewardship team installed six bird boxes on OCT's Namequoit Wood property, and within just one week, three were already filled with nests. Two weeks later, we spotted these eggs!

What do you think... Black-capped Chickadee? Let us know in the comments.

These bird boxes are part of OCT's broader biodiversity efforts. Over the past five years, staff and volunteers have tracked bird box data through Cornell Lab's NestWatch program to help us better understand and support local wildlife habitats.

Interested in getting involved? OCT's Biodiversity Seekers volunteers help us identify and document plant and animal species across our properties. Learn more at OrleansConservationTrust.org/volunteer

We had perfect weather earlier this month for a morning walk with Orleans Recreation and OCT Trustee Jamie Demas at OCT's Mill Pond Valley Trail! Jamie identified plants and birdsong along the way, guiding the group past both water and valley views.

OCT hosts monthly guided walks year-round on conservation lands in Orleans. Sign up for our e-blasts to be the first to know about our upcoming Summer and Fall Guided Walks: lp.constantcontactpages.com/sl/mRscvaP/OrleansConservationTrust

Thank you to OCT Trustee Ed Hafner for the great photos.

Happy Earth Day! What better way to celebrate the earth than to get outside on a beautiful spring day and appreciate the beautiful diversity of plants and animals on Orleans conservation lands?

OCT's Biodiversity Seekers are preparing to do just that. Coming up on May 7th, volunteers will join staff on the trail for a training on plant and animal ID with the iNaturalist app. This valuable data informs the stewardship of Orleans conservation properties.

You don't have to be an expert to join in on the fun! Learn more and register for the BioBlitz on our SignUp page: https://signup.com/go/zELcPaD
