On September 10,2026, the representative from Honor Flights Central Florida spoke at the American Legion Auxiliary’s general meeting. Members learned that presently 2 flights are organized per year and paid for by Honor Flights. They fly veterans to Washington DC to visit their memorial monuments and then return that night to a heroes welcome at the Sanford Airport. For the October 17th flight they have three WWII veterans who will be going on the flight. Each veteran over 100 years old. A total of 60 veterans plus an es**rt for each veteran will leave Sanford airport early in the morning for an all expense paid trip. Many veterans have never been to Washington DC. It’s a trip of a lifetime. Donations are always welcome.

The American Legion Auxiliary has chosen Honor Flights as its main project for the next year or more. To date they have raised over $5300 and that was donated to Honor Flights when their representative Treasurer Tod Colby attended the meeting and received the check. Also, Legionnaire Eboard member Ray Weaver also presented a check to Honor Flights for $1000.
