Happy Sunday🤍

As we move into January, John and I want to share a transparent update about Love in Action Orlando.

Because this outreach is currently just the two of us, we are taking this month to regroup, pray, and intentionally plan what this work is meant to look like in this next season. Over the past two months, we have faced a few challenges, especially with location, capacity, and how to help people in a way that is sustainable and reallyimpactful.

What we are learning is that helping on a larger scale requires more hands, more support, and more structure than we currently have. While our hearts are big and our desire is to serve widely, we are being called to take a step back and focus on baby steps, doing what we can do well instead of trying to do everything at once.

One direction we are prayerfully considering is making this outreach more relational and mentorship based. This would look like walking alongside individuals experiencing homelessness and addiction through detox, rehab, and recovery, and then continuing with consistent friendship, follow up, and support. We have already seen how much individual care matters through ongoing visits and meeting specific needs, and we want to honor that work instead of stretching ourselves too thin.

At the same time, John is currently in Ecuador for a few weeks serving with his home church, Cross Assembly. He is sharing the Gospel and supporting local communities with food and children’s activities. We are so thankful for what God is doing there and for the ways He moves beyond borders.

And some exciting news 🤍
My childhood best friend Tiffany will be coming down from Georgia with members of the Hope Farms Recovery team to help with outreach efforts here in Orlando. Her willingness to serve, love, and show up is something we are deeply grateful for. We believe God uses people who understand compassion through lived experience, and her heart for others is a powerful reminder that redemption stories matter when handled with dignity, respect, and grace.

Thank you to everyone who has supported, prayed, donated, shared posts, or encouraged us along the way. This is not a pause out of discouragement. It is a pause out of obedience. We are trusting that God is refining the vision so it can grow in the right way, at the right time.

Please continue to pray with us as we listen, learn, and move forward 🤍

Today was our very first Love in Action outreach, and I want to share how it really went with full transparency.

John, Roman, and I went out with no huge expectations. We weren’t trying to “save the day” or force anything. We just wanted to show up, meet people, and love them well. And honestly, God met us out there.

We ended up connecting with more people than I thought we would, and Dylan’s story especially touched us. You could see it in his eyes. He looks tired of living in the cycle he’s been stuck in. He opened up about his kids, and the way he stays connected with his oldest daughter, FaceTiming her every day, really hit me. It feels like that relationship is keeping him grounded and giving him real motivation to keep fighting for change.

There were a few people we didn’t get super in depth with yet, but we told them our goal is to be consistent and to sit down, take our time, and actually get to know them as people. Not just do a quick handoff and disappear.

One of the biggest things we learned today is that reaching people isn’t always simple. Some locations are hard to get to, especially around highway areas, and figuring out how to safely navigate those spaces is going to be something we learn as we grow.

But the most beautiful part of the day? I truly expected people to be closed off to prayer or to Jesus, and it was the opposite. Every time I asked if they believed in God, it was an enthusiastic yes. Nobody rushed the prayer. They were present. They were open. It was humbling in a way I wasn’t prepared for.

It also checked my heart. Sometimes when life is stable, when we have food, a bed, and we aren’t battling the same kinds of vices, it’s easy to take God’s provision for granted. Today made me reflect on gratitude in a deeper way. And seeing a child out there… that one hit me hard. A baby didn’t ask for that. It puts everything into perspective. I’ve been feeling sick and worn down lately, but the second we pulled up, it was like my body snapped into reality. No excuses. It’s not that bad. We’re here for a reason.

I’m going to post a log after this so you can see who we met and what we learned from each interaction, keeping locations general for safety.
