Goodwill Industries of Central Florida, Inc. BookWorks BookWorks of Central Florida provides gently loved or new books to children between the ages of 3-6 in Title 1 schools in Central Florida.

Goodwill Industries of Central Florida was founded in 1959, through the efforts of a local advocacy group working to increase job opportunities for people. Soon afterward, we opened our first Retail Store, in the heart of downtown Orlando's Church Street Station. Over the years, our presence has expanded with new stores and online shopping, but our purpose has remained the same: providing tools th

at help people overcome barriers to employment and find meaningful work.

The BookWorks program provides new or gently used used books to children between the ages of 3-6 in Title 1 schools in Central Florida. According to the National Institute of Literacy, young children "begin to understand written language when they hear adults read stories to them and see adults reading newspapers, magazines, and books for themselves. These early childhood experiences with spoken and written language set the stage foe children to become successful readers and writers."
