Twenty-two applicants. One powerful question.

*What is your ambition?*

The Presidential Service Badge Foundation is proud to announce that 22 scholarship submissions were received for our inaugural scholarship program. As the review process begins, we celebrate every applicant who stepped forward, shared their goals, and invested in their future.

While only three scholarship recipients will be selected, every applicant has already accomplished something meaningful: they showed up, accepted the challenge, and put their ambitions into words.

As summer begins and our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, we encourage each applicant to reflect, recharge, and continue moving forward. Your ambition does not pause while you wait. It grows through every step you take.

This Memorial Day, we do more than remember.
We honor.
We reflect.
We celebrate the lives, courage, and legacy of those who served our nation with sacrifice and love.

Behind every uniform was a person with dreams, a family, a story, and a purpose greater than themselves.

Today we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.
Their sacrifice secured freedoms many will never fully see, yet benefit from every single day.

We also honor the families.
The spouses who carried strength quietly.
The children who grew up carrying pride and absence together.
The parents, siblings, and loved ones who continue carrying their memory forward.

May we never reduce Memorial Day to a date on a calendar.
May it remain a living reminder of courage, unity, service, and gratitude.

And as we gather with family, raise flags, pray, reflect, and celebrate life, may we do so with deeper appreciation for those who helped protect the freedoms we hold today.

Jesus’ example leads us to pray before taking action.
So today, we pray for peace.
We pray for healing.
We pray for the families of the fallen.
And we pray that we continue living with honor, compassion, and purpose.

Together, we carry forward a legacy of service.
Together, we keep their memory alive.

While many of us gather this Memorial Day weekend with family, food, and freedom, some families are visiting gravesites, carrying folded flags, and remembering loved ones who never came home.

Freedom was never free.

Today’s Presidential Gazette feature reflects on the true meaning of Memorial Day, the sacred traditions of Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the responsibility we all share to remember with gratitude and solidarity.

Take a moment to pause, reflect, and honor those who gave everything.

Memorial Day was born from grief.

Originally known as Decoration Day after the Civil War, families and communities gathered to place flowers on the graves of fallen soldiers, honoring those who never made it home. What began as mourning slowly became a national act of remembrance, unity, and gratitude.

And generations later, that sacred meaning still remains.

Tonight, as flags wave softly in the wind and candles flicker beside photographs, we remember that freedom carries names, faces, families, and stories.

Some gave years of service.
Some gave their youth.
Some gave everything.

To the men and women who laid down their lives in service to this nation:
we honor you.
We remember you.
We thank you.

And to the families who carried the silence afterward, the folded flags, the missing chair at the table, the ache that holidays sometimes bring, we stand beside you in love and solidarity.

Memorial Day is not simply about history.
It is about humanity.
It is about sacrifice woven into the fabric of a nation.

May we never become too busy to remember the cost of freedom.
May gratitude never become seasonal.
And may legacy continue to live through remembrance, honor, and how we choose to serve one another moving forward.

Today we pause.
Today we reflect.
Today we remember.

On the eve of Memorial Day, we pause not just to remember sacrifice…
But to honor the lives behind the sacrifice.

The empty seats at dinner tables.
The folded flags.
The families who carried on while carrying grief.
The servicemen and women who gave everything in service to something greater than themselves.

Their courage does not go unnoticed.
Their legacy does not expire with time.
And their impact continues through the lives they touched, the freedoms they protected, and the generations that follow because of them.

At the Presidential Service Badge Foundation, we believe remembrance must be paired with action.

Through community initiatives, scholarships, resources, partnerships, and continued support for badge holders, veterans, and their families, we strive to continue a mission rooted in honor, purpose, and service.

This Memorial Day, we invite you to not only reflect, but to help continue the impact.

Whether through sponsorship, donations, partnerships, sharing resources, or simply helping us amplify the mission, your support helps preserve legacy through meaningful action.

Because freedom was never free.
And service deserves more than one day of remembrance.

Too many families connected to service carry sacrifice quietly.

Sometimes the challenge is not lack of ambition.
It is lack of access.
Lack of support.
Lack of someone opening the door.

That is why the Presidential Service Badge Foundation continues building initiatives designed to support badge holders, veterans, and their families through community, resources, recognition, and opportunity.

One of those opportunities is the Presidential Service Badge Foundation Scholarship, with applications closing May 31st.

If you or a qualifying family member still plans to apply, there is still time to submit.

And for those who believe in this mission, we invite you to support the initiatives that continue creating impact far beyond the badge itself.

Because service leaves a legacy.
And legacy deserves continued investment.

Our Global Reach page highlights part of that growing vision and the initiatives we are building together as a community.

We would love to hear from our community:
What does legacy through service mean to you?

05/23/2026

For many veterans, Presidential Service Badge holders, and their families, the hardest part is not always the service itself…
Sometimes it feels forgotten after the service ends.

Navigating resources, recognition, records, support systems, and community can become overwhelming, frustrating, and isolating. Many families are left searching for answers without knowing where to begin.

That is why the Presidential Service Badge Foundation exists.

This mission is about preserving legacy, honoring service, building community, and creating meaningful resources that continue beyond the badge itself.

We invite you to watch, engage, and share what this mission means to you personally.

What is one resource, story, or support system you wish more veterans and badge holders knew about?

Your voice matters. Your service matters. Your legacy matters.

For many Presidential Service Badge holders, the badge is more than metal.
It represents sacrifice, service, long hours, history, and a chapter of life that helped shape who they are.

But over time, badges get lost, damaged, misplaced during moves, retirement transitions, deployments, or simply through the wear of life itself. And one of the biggest frustrations people face is not knowing where to even begin replacing it.

That’s why the Presidential Service Badge Foundation created this resource page.

Whether you are seeking an official numbered replacement through the proper federal channels or looking for a commemorative replica to honor and preserve your legacy, this page helps point you in the right direction with trusted guidance and resources.

Because recognition of service should never feel forgotten.

At the heart of the Presidential Service Badge Foundation stands a powerful symbol: our seal. More than a design, it is a declaration.

Rooted in the visual language of the Great Seal of the United States, this emblem represents service with integrity, leadership with responsibility, and legacy with purpose. The eagle, steady and vigilant, reflects those who have answered the call to serve, often quietly, often without recognition, always with resolve. Its outstretched wings remind us that service does not end with a title or a uniform. It continues through mentorship, advocacy, and community impact.

The circular form of the seal speaks to continuity. Service is not a single chapter. It is a lifelong thread that connects past, present, and future. The stars signify unity and shared responsibility, reinforcing that no act of service stands alone. Together, they form a constellation of impact.

Encircling it all is the name Presidential Service Badge Foundation, a promise and a platform. Our Foundation exists to honor service, support badge holders and their families, and invest in initiatives that strengthen education, wellness, and opportunity. This seal represents stewardship over recognition, action over applause, and values that endure beyond the moment.

When you see this seal, you are not just looking at a symbol. You are witnessing a standard.

Thank you for standing with us as we carry this mission forward, honoring those who serve, have served, and continue to lead by example.

“Service does not end when the badge is set down.
It lives on in how we choose to honor it.”
