Central Florida Paralegal Association, Inc.

Central Florida Paralegal Association, Inc. Mission Statement: CFPA empowers paralegals to grow through education, professional development and community service.

Vision: Challenging paralegals to reach new heights. Central Florida Paralegal Association, Inc., or "CFPA" is an organization for Central Florida paralegals/legal assistants who desire to promote high standards of professionalism in their career field. CFPA is governed by a 10 member Board of Directors consisting of the 6 officers, 3 Directors elected at large, and one Director to be appointed by

the incoming President for his or her term. CFPA offers a wide range of professional and personal benefits to each member, including educational opportunities, continuing education credits, professional development, student development, job referral service, a voice in national affairs, leadership, community service, and community recognition. Established in 1983 as the Orlando Legal Assistants, the purpose was to serve the local population of paralegals (then referred to as legal assistants) in continued legal education, professional development and community service. In 1995-96, Orlando Legal Assistants became CFPA and was the first paralegal association in the State of Florida to use the term "paralegal". CFPA was incorporated as a Florida not for profit corporation in November, 2001 and amended/updated its Bylaws in 2008. CFPA began publishing a quarterly newsletter in 1983 and is currently publishing Volume 28 of The Focus. Approximately 2004-2005, CFPA went online with its website which has expanded to what you see today and is updated almost weekly with new information, calendar dates for seminars, mixers and community service events.

🥂 What a way to celebrate National Paralegal Day!

The Wine Room on Park Ave was the perfect backdrop for an evening of networking, laughter, and raising a glass to the incredible paralegals who keep the legal world moving.

It was wonderful seeing familiar faces, meeting new friends, and celebrating a profession built on knowledge, dedication, and just the right amount of organized chaos. 🍷⚖️

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening such a success. Until next time... keep billing hours, making deadlines, and proving that paralegals really do run the show. 😉

Come celebrate with CFPA and OCBA Paralegal Section

August 6th is National Paralegal Day (NPD), now recognized in the Congressional Record. This achievement was made possible through a collaborative effort by the American Association for Paralegal Education (AAfPE), NALA – The Paralegal Association, National Association for Legal Support Professionals (NALS), and National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA).

Why August 6th - On August 6, 1968, the American Bar Association created the Special Committee on Lay Assistants. That committee is now the Standing Committee on Paralegals and is the ABA’s primary group focused on the utilization of paralegals throughout the legal industry.

Florida has not renewed its Paralegal Day (10/23) via the Governor's official letter since 2022.
