Next up is Gavin Clement!

Gavin came to Winter Park Crew in a unique way—he transferred to Winter Park his senior year and was personally invited to join by the captain. Talk about hitting the ground running!

Gavin’s favorite memory from his time on the team is spring break camp, which he says brought the seniors closer together. He’ll miss the constant working out most of all—something only a rower would say!

Gavin credits rowing with teaching him the importance of time management and balancing everything life throws at you.

His advice to novices: Stick with it.

We’re so glad you found WPC, Gavin!

Meet senior Juliana Kodera!

Juliana is proof that it’s never too late to find your sport. Her fellow rower Ava convinced her to try out during December break junior year, and she fell in love immediately. Coming from a swimming background, she says crew taught her what it really means to be a team player, helping her develop lasting friendships, trust, and teamwork skills she didn’t have before.

Juliana’s favorite memory is Scholastic Nationals last year — a fun race that brought her even closer to her teammates. She’ll miss those girls most of all. As she puts it, “they’re such a great group and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.”

Next year, Juliana heads to row at the University of Southern California! ☀️❤️💛

Her advice to novices: Don’t stress. There are so many opportunities to improve and get into better boats. Just work hard and don’t forget to have fun!

California is getting a great one, JB. We’ll miss you on the water!

Our next senior is Ian Bloodwell!

Some rowers join for the competition. Some join for fitness, Ian joined because he wanted a sport he could stick with and loved the community. What he got was all of that, plus a boathouse family and serious gains.

Ian’s favorite memory is from Spring Break Camp 2026: the long steady state rows through the river with house music pumping through the speakers. He says rowing made him more focused and ambitious, and there’s nothing quite like suffering through a brutal workout together to bring a team closer. WPC is his family, and he’ll miss the people most of all.

Next year, Ian heads to Tallahassee State College for his AA before transferring to FSU. Go Noles! 🍢
His advice to novices: Embrace challenge and caffeine is your best friend.

Ian, we’re going to miss you!
