Care Blankets Advent - Community Care

Hi Friends,

Just over a year ago, we began a campaign that many people thought was a little crazy... Blankets! (In Florida?)
But together, we proved them wrong.

On April 1, 2025, Care Blankets launched with one simple goal: to bring comfort, kindness, and connection to people who need it most. What happened next was something none of us could have imagined.

Because of YOU—telling your friends, sharing our story, posting on social media, listening to us on the radio, watching television interviews, and most importantly, spending your own time making blankets—our little idea has grown into a movement.
Today, more than 1,500 volunteers across Florida and 31 other states are creating handmade blankets that are bringing warmth, hope, and love to complete strangers.

We couldn't be more grateful.

As many of you know, our initial partner recently concluded its participation with Care Blankets. While we're thankful for the role they played in helping us get started, we're now looking for a new community partner to help our family of over 1500 people continue growing.

Our dream is to find a company or organization that believes, as we do, that small acts of kindness can change lives.

That partner would join an amazing group of organizations already receiving Care Blankets, including St. Vincent de Paul, Habitat for Humanity, Shepherd's Hope, Neighborhood Centers, Samaritan Resource Center, the Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs, AMVETS, Orlando Rescue Mission, Metropolitan Ministries, and Hospice organizations throughout Florida.

This is where we're hoping you can help.

Do you have a friend, family member, neighbor, or business contact who works for a company that believes in giving back? Maybe someone in community relations, corporate responsibility, human resources, marketing, or executive leadership?

Over the course of the care blankets project, so far, we have been overwhelmed with support and the number amazing blankets that our community has come together to quilt, knit, and crochet for those in need! We are currently in the process of finding new drop off locations for blanket donations and would ask that you hold on to the blankets you’ve recently completed or are in the process of making right now until we have found a new home. Thank you so much!!!

Calling all Care Blanketers: We’ve received crocheted squares that we want to get into the hands of a Care Blanketer who can turn them into whole blankets! If you would be interested, send us a message so that we can get them to you ASAP.

As Memorial Day approaches, the need for lap blankets has gone up. Help us let our veterans know that they are not alone by presenting them Care Blankets knitted, crocheted, and quilted with love.

The Care Blankets team is continuing to distribute Care Blankets throughout our amazing communities but we still need your help to fulfill the requests we’ve continued to receive from community partners! You can participate by donating your crocheted, knitted, and quilted blankets at your nearest AdventHealth CentraCare location. Every blanket helps to let one of our amazing community members know that they are cared for and loved!

This week, hundreds more Care Blankets are being delivered in Brevard County thanks to the continued support of our amazing Care Blanketer community! We are overjoyed with the outpouring of support from our community so far and hope that as we continue our mission and expand into new states that we can keep this momentum and keep making a difference for community members in need!

The Care Blankets mission is expanding! We are excited to begin empowering our community to bring love and warmth more broadly in North Carolina and Kansas as well as in Central Florida. As requests continue to roll in from our Florida Community, we have been amazed at the response from care blanketers as they have redoubled their efforts continuing to donate hand-knitted, crocheted, and quilted blankets to make sure that no member of our community feels cold or unloved. Our hope is that we can continue to find amazing people across the rest of the nation to participate in this initiative!
