In 2008, Selena Holston-Gabriel created Compassion Creates Change™ as a missions initiative while serving as Pastor of Compassionate Ministries and Global Missions Partnerships at Pasadena First Church of the Nazarene (PazNaz). The ministry grew and in 2012, Selena and the founding board (with the support of PazNaz) established Compassion Creates Change™ as a non-profit. Selena has been devoted to the global health and welfare of children and to sustainable methods of community transformation for more than 20 years. She has served children and families on the front lines of international relief work, compassionate ministry, global missions partnerships, and community development projects in the U.S. Through Compassion Creates Change™, the work has focused on organizing medical missions and nutrition therapy programs, providing safe parks and play spaces, clean water projects, constructing schools and churches, and more. Today, with a glocal (global and local) strategy, Compassion Creates Change™ is successfully engaged in domestic and international partnerships. With each and every community project, initiative or opportunity, the organization works to leverage capacities at the community level, address social needs, create strategic, collective impact, and empower the next generation of change-makers. Compassion Creates Change™ is currently accomplishing its mission through the following overarching priorities:
• Education and Empowerment Initiatives for Vulnerable Girls
• Compassionate Care for the Vulnerable
• Community Health & Healthcare Programs
• Food Security and Nutrition
• Community Development Projects (like the construction of schools, parks, and clean water projects in target communities)
• Organization and Management of Church Mission Trips/Teams
