IDEAS For Us - Orlando

IDEAS For Us - Orlando An environmental solutions incubator working to advance local action in the five focus areas of sustainability - energy, water, food, waste, and ecology.

The Hive is a multi-generational, interdisciplinary group that exists in communities for the purpose of organizing stakeholders for action projects. The Hive operates as a stand alone group that seeks to draw in members of both IDEAS Chapters at the local level and members of the general community. In name, The Hive represents a bee hive and the bees are the attendees of the event. Each month, the

“bees” gather at the Hive and formulate an action plan to address a global problem with a local solution. Everyone disperses afterwards until the next action project or planing meeting to work on the task at hand. The primary goal of The Hive is to accomplish action projects in a community through a crowd sourced ideas. Every month, a Hive is themed around one of, what we refer to as, the Five Pillars of Sustainability. The Five Pillars of Sustainability:

* Food
* Water
* Waste
* Energy
* Ecology

Intellectual Decisions on Environmental Awareness Solutions (IDEAS) is a International youth-led sustainability movement growing throughout universities, K-12 schools, and communities across the Nation; providing people of all ages with the opportunities to grow their ideas, and leave a positive impact for generations to come. We strive to bring a Culture of Sustainability to our campuses and communities, through in-depth youth and civic engagement. We are a sustainability movement that nurtures the talents of youth leaders to drive solutions and implement sustainability initiatives on campus and in their communities. Through a network of educational institutions, green businesses, and community organizations, IDEAS builds on the ‘passion for change’ and provides the right training, resources and support needed for young people to enact innovative IDEAS and solve the integrated energy, environmental and economic problems in their community. Our mission is to Educate, Engage, and Empower others with an array of resources, initiatives and guidance to create positive environmental change and bring a culture of sustainability on campus and in the community. In today's consumerist society, we are facing challenges such as overwhelming amounts of waste, unethical supply chains, and inequitable workers rights. Join IDEAS For Us and GoodFills for an eye-opening discussion on the hidden costs of consumerism and how we can transform our shopping habits for a more ethical and sustainable future.

We’ll explore the immense scale of global supply chains, from production to disposal, and how most companies ignore the end-of-life impact of their products. This system disproportionately harms developing countries, where cheap labor is exploited and waste is dumped or burned. We’ll discuss how corporations manipulate consumer behavior, encouraging unnecessary purchases, and how we can break free from this cycle.

Learn practical ways to shop smarter, and hear from GoodFills about how they provide an alternative to wasteful consumerism through refillable and reusable products. After the presentation, we’ll engage in a discussion on creating systemic change and holding corporations accountable for ethical and sustainable practices.

Come out to learn, connect, and share your ideas for how to create a greener future! Register today: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1225449956809?aff=oddtdtcreator
