For years, the only way Wambura could access the Bible was through the Swahili translation. But as an Isenye speaker, he couldn’t connect with the words. He felt distant from the messages preached from the pulpit during church services.

Then came the day he heard portions from the Book of Matthew in a new way. Instead of Swahili, the text was read in Isenye. Wambura had never felt so close to God’s Word. Matthew 11:28 in particular spoke to him: “Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest’” (NLT).

Wambura’s burden was his health. He’d been so sick that his ability to walk was hampered. But the Word of God told him that Jesus offers him rest and peace.
“No longer just a listener, Wambura became a bearer of the message,” a member of the Isenye Bible translation team said. He has gained a richer understanding of Scripture — one he’s excited to share with his friends and neighbors!

Now that the Isenye translation is becoming available, Wambura and other Christians in his community in Tanzania can spread the gospel. Despite his mobility issues, Wambura tells everyone he can about Scripture.

Praise God for the way His Word has impacted Wambura! Let’s pray that others in the Isenye community will encounter Scripture and be transformed too. 🙏

Yesterday, you prayed for people around the world still longing to know how much God loves them. Today we want to tell you about a community that faithfully prayed and persevered to translate Scripture.

Meet the Zinza people of Tanzania: They’re now celebrating because after 30 years, they have the New Testament in their language! 🎉

Hundreds of people gathered for the landmark dedication ceremony in 2025, which honored the tireless work of translators and the unwavering faithfulness of God.

“We knew this was more than just human struggle; spiritual opposition was real. But through prayer and persistence, God kept the work moving forward,” Padre Thomas Bilingi said.

On the dedication day, choirs sang in Zinza, the congregations danced and churches united across denominational lines. But the most moving moment came when primary school children read aloud from the newly published New Testament.

“When the children read, the crowd became completely silent. People were amazed. Many had never before heard Scripture read so fluently in their own language — and by the youngest generation. It was as if God Himself was showing us the future of His Word among the Zinza,” an attendee noted.

By the close of the event, many people purchased copies of the New Testament and carried them home, ensuring Scripture is now in the hands of the community.

For the translation team, the dedication marked both triumph and transition. “It has taken more than 30 years to see this day,” Ipimilio, one of the translators, noted. “We faced opposition, illness and doubts, but today we see the fruit: Zinza people holding the New Testament with joy. This is what we longed for.”

With the New Testament now available, churches across the Zinza region are preparing to use it to strengthen discipleship, enrich their worship and share the Good News with future generations. Praise God!

Amanda (name changed) had tried to share the gospel with her terminally ill aunt before, but she wanted to try again.

In the past, she felt like there was a barrier preventing her from truly communicating to the woman. Amanda thought that it might have been because of the opposition and influence of another aunt who lived nearby and was a shaman in her community.

But Amanda had been praying. And during the visit, she shared portions of a translation about the story of creation with her aunt. The women talked about who God is and what it means to follow Him.
This time, something hit home.

Amanda’s aunt excitedly told Amanda and her friend Spring (name changed) she wanted to believe. Right then she prayed with Amanda and Spring! The power of the gospel had finally resonated within her soul, and God broke down the barriers around her heart.

When Amanda left, she gave her aunt an MP3 player with the draft version of the Book of Mark on it as well as some songs in the local language so that she could continue to learn more about God.

Shortly after the visit, Amanda’s aunt’s health declined and she passed away. Amanda and her friends grieved but were grateful that the woman had the chance to respond to gospel before she passed.

Spring was also able to share the gospel with her family. While her mother believed in God for many years, her father never wanted Spring to share her faith with him. But during one visit where Spring and Amanda went to visit her family together, Spring's dad finally agreed to listen to them.

After they shared the Good News of the gospel in his own language, Spring's father told them that he wanted to believe. At first, Amanda and Spring thought that he was just being polite. So they asked if he wanted to take more time to consider such an important decision. He emphatically replied, “No! I understand what you have said, and I want to believe now!”

People’s hearts are changed and their lives are redirected as the seed of God’s Word takes root in their lives. Praise God for His faithfulness! 🙌

Imagine you’re traveling in another country and your phone stops working. You find a map, but it’s in a language you don’t understand. You can see the roads, but you have no idea where you are or how to get where you need to go.

Now imagine trying to navigate life and your relationship with God without the Bible in a language you truly understand.

Today there are still people whose Bibles are blank, while millions of others have incomplete stories.

But God is on the move through Bible translation, and your prayers are vital in this mission!

🙏 Pray for obstacles to be removed.

🙏 Pray for hearts to be ready to receive the gospel.

Let’s keep praying and working until the day God’s Word is available for every heart, everywhere!

God uses His Word to strengthen, heal, uplift and teach us. And when people encounter Him personally through Scripture, their lives are transformed.

“What does this Bible mean for us?” Reverend Moses Anur Ayom asked in a speech he wrote for the Dinka Cam Bible dedication in South Sudan.

“It means worship, teaching and prayer expressed in the rhythms of our own speech. It means families can hear God’s promises in the language of their hearts. It means children and young people can learn Scripture without the barrier of a foreign tongue.

“It means our traditions and language are recognized and strengthened, woven together with the eternal truth of Scripture. The Holy Bible … printed in Dinka language … honors our language, our history and the faith of our people. When God’s Word is spoken in the language of the heart, it teaches, heals and shapes lives. This gift will nourish faith, guide moral formation, promote unity, and support reconciliation and healing within our communities.”

Matthew 24:35 reminds us that Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear” (NLT).

For generations, the Mmen people of Cameroon highly valued the wisdom passed down through their traditional rulers and ancestors.

But when the Mmen New Testament was dedicated earlier this year, one pastor reflected on how God's Word speaks to something even greater:

“In our culture, there is a high value for passing on wisdom and authority from generation to generation through our powerful traditional rulers. It’s like we believe the wisdom of our ancestors will never pass away.

“This verse, however, challenges our cultural confidence in our ancestors. This New Testament contains words of wisdom that will never pass away. Today, our community is blessed because our traditional ruler has embraced the eternal and authoritative Word of God.”

After 18 years of translation work, the Mmen people now have the New Testament in their own language. As more people encounter the truth of Scripture, lives and communities are being transformed by the Word of God that will never pass away.
