❤️🌶️ What a day. What a community. What a cause. 🌶️❤️

This year’s Chili Cook Off to CURE was one of the most competitive and inspiring events we’ve ever had. So many new winners, familiar teams back at it again, and several teams just points away from the podium. That level of passion, commitment, and friendly rivalry is exactly what makes this event so special. We are incredibly grateful to every team who shows up year after year, we truly couldn’t do this without you.

A huge THANK YOU to our sponsors whose generosity makes this event possible. Your support allows us to bring the community together, create an unforgettable experience, and most importantly, raise critical funds for pediatric cancer research benefiting the For Kids' Sake Foundation Inc.

Because of YOU, the teams, sponsors, volunteers, and community, we are incredibly proud to announce that $22,149.57 will be donated to the For Kids' Sake Foundation Inc. this year. That impact goes far beyond a single day and directly supports children and families who need it most.

And finally, this incredible volunteer team. The people behind the scenes who donate their time, energy, and hearts every single year. Together, we don’t just host an event, we create something meaningful that brings people together for a cause bigger than all of us.

To everyone who attended, competed, sponsored, volunteered, donated, or simply showed up to support, thank you. This community continues to amaze us, and we are beyond grateful.

💙 Interested in being part of this incredible cause?
If you’d like to become a sponsor or get involved in future events, we’d love to hear from you.

Caught a great interview with Reese while the Mardi Gras band was absolutely bringing the energy in the background—and she was a total natural. Confident, polished, and even managed to sneak in a perfectly timed short joke aimed at Eric, our fearless emcee and mortgage guru from Kohler Mortgages 😄. Great vibes, great music, and moments like this are what make the day so special.

Big thanks to Jason from Aqua Bins Exterior Cleaning Services, proud Rotary Club of Avalon Park member, our Beer Koozie sponsor and the only guy who can talk pressure washing and hand out cotton candy at the same time. While the kids were getting sugar highs, Jason was out here keeping our neighborhood spotless—because nobody cleans things up better than a pressure-washing pro. Great guy, great business, and a whole lot of heart behind the hose. We’re grateful for your support and for always keeping Avalon Park looking fresh!

Big thanks to The White Agency, Inc. for sponsoring our Co****le Tournament and bringing the fun to a whole new level. Jake White somehow managed to give an interview while grilling Twinkies—and yes, it was every bit as legendary as it sounds. Great people, great energy, and an unforgettable moment that perfectly captured the spirit of the day. We’re grateful for your support and for keeping things deliciously entertaining

Our Story

The inspiration began back in 2002 when Jason Turoff, an Avalon Park resident and local business owner, was invited by his friend John Rivers (CEO of 4Rivers Smokehouse) to join his chili cook off team for a local fundraising event. After spending over 4 hours preparing chili and salsa and raising money for a great cause, his team ended up winning 1st place in the fundraising competition.

Years later, Jason started having chili cook-off parties at his home with close friends and family, but soon realized that his home wasn’t big enough to host as many people as he would like, and that this event could be much bigger, better and could support a much greater cause.

On February 22, of 2013, the vision of the 1st annual FIRE IN THE PARK chili cook off for CURE fundraiser became a reality!
