Information for singers and audience members about The Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition

The Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition is a program designed to discover promising young opera singers and assist in the development of their careers. The competition is held annually in 11 Regions in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. There are 31 Districts within these Regions, each providing an opportunity for talented singers to enter the auditions at the local level

. The auditions are administered by Met Competition volunteers in each area. Many of the world’s foremost singers have received awards from the Met Competition and approximately 100 former competitors appear in Metropolitan Opera productions each season.

Join us this Sunday, March 15. 23 rising operatic stars will compete in the 2026 Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition National Semifinals! ✨

The Semifinals will be live streamed from the Met stage beginning at 11am ET via Laffont.Kiswe.com and the Met Opera YouTube channel. If you choose to use the Kiswe ink, there will be multiple camera views to toggle through, including EXCLUSIVE backstage interview segments with each competitor!

Singers who advance through National Semifinals will sing in the Grand Finals Concert on Sunday, March 22 at 3pm ET at the Met! Tickets are available for the Grand Finals via metopera.org or by calling the Box Office at 212-362-6000.

Florida District Winner Lin Fan won the Southeast Region competition and now will advance to the Semifinals on the stage of the Met! The Second Place winner was mezzo-soprano Natalie Creel, and bass Noah Mond won Third Place. What fabulous singing we heard from all 15 competitors in Atlanta today!

Florida District Winners advancing to the Laffont Southeast Region competition are bass-baritone Lin Fan, tenor Randy Ho, and mezzo-soprano Anna Liu. The recipients of 5 Encouragement Awards are soprano Alexandra Kzeski, baritone Jason Edelstein, soprano Anna Low, soprano Laura Elena Fernández, and mezzo-soprano Sarah Scofield. Photos to come!
