dents from happening that can easily be prevented. On the early hours of June 28, 2015, Chloe Arenas was traveling on Florida State Road 408 when she fell asleep behind the wheel. Her car drifted into a exit only lane and led into a unprotected retention pond that is 15-20 ft. Chloe's accident is not an isolated event, as Florida continuously leads the nation with victims who drown in submerged vehicles. In the past two years, Florida has lost 60 people to these types of drownings. That is not accounting the people who have been deemed missing and could very well be at the bottom of a body of water. This law aims to require the implementation of guardrails along any body of water that poses a serious threat to Florida's drivers. The law has received sponsorship in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Senator Darren Soto and Representative Rene Plasencia will be introducing this law in the upcoming January session.
