This month's puzzle set featured a cryptic crossword, the most beautiful puzzle type. But if you're unfamiliar with cryptics, they can be quite intimidating. Two daily web sites can help you learn.

minutecryptic.com offers a single cryptic clue each day, along with hints that break the clue down for you, and a video to walk you through the solve.

parseword.com also offers a single cryptic clue each day, and you don't even have to type-- as you select words in the clue, parseword offers you an array of options for how to use those words to solve the clue.

Integrate these sites into your daily routine, and soon you'll be tackling cryptic crosswords like a pro!

Many of you know that in addition to hosting Puzzled Pint, I created a massive puzzle event at Hollywood Studios in February. I'm re-running that event in October, this time on a Saturday to make it easier for people to play without taking time off from work. If you enjoy Puzzled Pint and Disney, this event puts puzzling chocolate into your theme park peanut butter!

Puzzlehop is returning to Hollywood Studios on Saturday, October 17. Teams of 2-4 will puzzle their way through the park from rope drop to sunset, doing all the rides and attractions and solving dozens of puzzles along the way.

I often describe Puzzlehop as transforming a theme park into a giant escape room. The puzzles are thematically inspired by the existing artifacts, scenery, and attractions at the park, incorporating them into the solving. Take everything you already love about Disney parks like the set design, immersive experiences, and beloved characters, and sprinkle a layer of puzzles on top like pixie dust. That's Puzzlehop. Players say it's the most fun they've ever had at a theme park!

Thanks for coming out and seeking your fortunes in the cards! I tried something new tonight and recorded each team's start and end times through the meta (not the bonus).

The average solve time tonight for teams that finished was 1 hour 51 minutes, with 6 teams faster than average, 3 teams slower, and 1 team right on par. Our fastest time was 1:12, just six minutes ahead of the next best time.

Does tracking your solve time make things more or less fun for you? Should I continue? Let me know!
