It was a bittersweet Noboborsho.. thank you all for showing up!

The to Soumitra da felt like a moment of closure this community truly needed. Heartfelt words from Jhunu di and our President Avantika (along with Sujoy da’s message, read out in his absence).. left us all deeply emotional.

Outside of that, was a pure vibe..bringing the spirit of Kolkata streets alive with phuchka, ghugni, chop, mishti, fruit kebabs, and so much more.

Our very own community talents , , , , and filled the stage with pride.. setting the perfect tone for our guest performer , beautifully supported by and .

And of course..ending the evening with mutton with dim aloo, soya chaap, rabri, and gulab jamun just felt right.

With full hearts, we wrapped up a night of remembrance, celebration, and togetherness.

Our hearts remain heavy…

Over the past few days, we have been reflecting on Soumitra da’s life… his warmth, and the incredible legacy he leaves behind.

Soumitra da had a deep love for cinema, music, and the arts… and as we come together this weekend, we believe the most meaningful way to honor him is to celebrate that very spirit.

As part of the evening, we will take a moment to honor him with a special tribute segment. This will be followed by community cultural performances… and we will conclude with a soft musical evening with Ronit Kar. We are looking forward to hosting him as he arrived in Florida earlier this week.

As much as our hearts are heavy, we will come together… to remember, to celebrate, and to welcome the Bengali New Year as one community… just as Soumitra da would have wanted.
