Join us TOMORROW, Tuesday, June 2 to speak out about Disney's lawsuits!
Disney has filed lawsuits against Orange County seeking property tax refunds. Property taxes fund our public schools, and Orange County Public Schools has set aside $119 million in response to these lawsuits. At the same time, public school teachers and Disney workers alike are facing uncertainty around health care costs and working families across Central Florida are struggling with rising costs.

What's the cost of Magic?
Over 185 of our neighbors, parents, teachers, and residents of Orange County District 6 gathered together just a few weeks ago to make our voices heard. Residents spoke about their hopes and fears for the future of their neighborhoods and the huge impacts Disney's lawsuits could have on Orange County Public Schools.

Mac is a Disney worker, a parent of six kids in Orange County Public Schools, and a canvasser.

She is knocking doors because protecting school funding is important to her. At the doors, Mac says she found kindness, empathy, and so many people who want better for this community.

🗣️We’re hitting the streets starting today!

Working families in our community are struggling with rising costs, but Disney is suing to lower its property taxes. This could mean less funding for public schools and higher costs for working families đź’¸.

Union members are out in the community talking with neighbors about what’s at stake and inviting people to a town hall 🏫 to learn more.

Canvassers like Ryan are knocking doors across Orange County to talk with neighbors about “The Cost of Magic”. Disney is suing for property tax refunds and the public schools have set aside $119 million in response.

At the doors, Ryan is meeting people who care deeply about their kids, their neighborhoods, and the future of our schools. Those conversations are helping more and more residents stand up for their communities.

Our own UNITE HERE Local 362 Union member Edner Alouidor spoke to News 13 on the importance of Temporary Protection Status (TPS) and the impact on our central Florida workforce. He also spoke at last months Orange County Board of County Commissioners meeting to educate on the importance of supporting programs like TPS. Check out the article below and share your support— a decision in the Supreme Court case is expected by late June or early July.
“[Haitians] work and contribute, helping to increase the economy. They support their families in Haiti, but if this administration cancels TPS, it’s going to be a catastrophe.”

If the legislation were to make it all the way through, it would require officials to reinstate Haiti’s protections.
