Happy National Grandparents Day from Give Kids The World! 💜

Long before Give Kids The World became the Village it is today, Henri Landwirth understood something essential: every child needs a grandparent. He reached out to the 39ers, a senior group at the Jewish Community Center of Central Florida, and asked them to help create a home‑like haven for visiting wish families.

They arrived with gentle smiles, patient hearts, and decades of life experience, becoming the Village’s first “grandmas and grandpas.” They shared stories, offered hugs and laughter, and made sure every child felt cherished.

Their influence didn’t stop with our families. Many of our storytellers learned the meaning of service by watching these seniors lead with humility and love. Their legacy is still felt in every act of kindness across the Village.

On National Grandparents Day, we honor the seniors who helped build our volunteer program and those who continue to enrich our mission. ✨ They remind us that joy is most powerful when it’s shared across generations.
