📉 but only 169,291 Evangelical Christians.
⚠️ That’s 1 church for every 4662.

📍But God is doing some amazing things in Boston and across New England!

✳️ A new church planter, Jacob Giles, plans to launch in fall 2027.
This past Saturday, he baptized 3 brand new Christians!

✳️ 44 students have just arrived in Boston — committing their summer to serve with church planters to engage the city with the gospel!

✳️ The Baptist Convention of New England reported the most attendance AND baptisms EVER last year.

🙌 We are thanking God for the many missionaries who are making a dent in the lostness of this great city!

Boston is powered by healthcare, business, and higher education, but ⬇️
loneliness, anxiety, burnout, & identity confusion create real spiritual hunger and a massive opportunity for the gospel.

God is doing great things in Boston, but the need still remains ⬇️
A city filled with church history — millions still needing the gospel!

🙏 We are praying that God would send many more difference-makers into this harvest — to engage the city with the gospel and make disciples of Jesus!

Pastors, your faithfulness is what makes any of this possible.

Every planter we train, every chaplain we endorse, every meal we serve, every student we baptize — it all starts with a Southern Baptist church that decided to stay in the fight.

Together, we are pushing back lostness and advancing the kingdom of Jesus Christ across North America.

The harvest is waiting.

This includes 699 new church plants — the most we have seen in a single year since 2016 — along with 93 replants, 32 new campuses, and 127 new affiliations.

With this growth, Southern Baptists have now planted more than 12,000 new churches since 2010!

Each of those new churches is a place where someone who did not know Jesus last year can hear the gospel this Sunday.

Through Send Network, we hosted 49 assessment retreats and welcomed 456 new planters to orientation.

Our Sending Labs and Residency Builders trained 1,802 leaders from 1,111 churches.

In a culture that celebrates bigger, faster, and more visible, it’s easy for pastors of normative-size churches to wonder if what they’re doing matters.

It does.

At our Small Church Pastors Luncheon, we were reminded that God’s measure of success isn’t attendance, influence, or platform size. It’s faithfulness.

Across North America, thousands of pastors are faithfully shepherding the churches God has entrusted to them. Their work matters. Their churches matter. And through their obedience, God is advancing His mission in communities everywhere.

We’re grateful for every pastor who continues to faithfully serve, week after week, year after year.

Did you know that 55% of new churches are minority-ethnic or multiethnic congregations?

These moments were captured at ethnic gatherings during this year's Southern Baptist Convention—a reminder of the many cultures, languages, and communities represented across our convention and our church planting family.

We are a family of churches planting churches EVERYWHERE FOR EVERYONE. As God continues to bring the nations to our neighborhoods, we're grateful for the pastors, planters, and churches working to ensure every community has access to the hope of the gospel and a healthy local church.

Join us in praying for more churches to be planted, more leaders to be raised up, and more people from every background to come to faith in Christ.

This year at SBC, we took a special moment to recognize church-planting Pastor Jonathan Parnell, whose church in Minneapolis received significant public attention after a group of protesters interrupted a Sunday gathering earlier this year.

We thank God for Pastor Jonathan’s faithfulness in pointing a watching world to Jesus. In the midst of ongoing protests and public scrutiny, he has continued to stand firmly on the importance of the gathered church and the proclamation of the gospel, responding with clarity and grace.

May God continue to strengthen pastors and church planters who faithfully proclaim the gospel, no matter the circumstances.
