It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of **Alan B. Cohen**, Department Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Commission Chair, who passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the age of 78.
A proud U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era and a 15-year continuous member of **Cooper City Post 321**, Alan devoted many years to serving veterans and The American Legion. Since 2016, he served as our Department Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Commission Chair and as a member of the National Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Commission, where he had served as Vice Chair since 2022. He also served on the National Legislative Council from 2021 to 2023.
Alan's dedication to advocating for veterans and his years of faithful service leave a lasting legacy within our American Legion Family.
Please keep Alan's wife, Lisa, his sons, Thomas and Michael, his granddaughter, Ashley, and all who knew and served alongside him in your thoughts and prayers.
Service information will be shared on the Department website as arrangements become available.
**Rest in peace, Alan. Thank you for your service to our nation, our veterans, and The American Legion.**
