BROOKESTRONG Promoting the importance of organ donation in memory of 19-year-old UCF student, Brooke Dawkins. www.Brookestrong.org

The BrookeStrong movement began on the morning of February 23, 2014, when Brooke was struck by a vehicle while crossing Alafaya Trail near the University of Central Florida. Brooke was rushed to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she would spend her next 10 days with the wonderful team in the Trauma ICU. During the first 4 days of her stay, Brooke's medical team focused on managing her inter c

ranial pressures and bleeding around the brain. On the 5th day, advanced imaging of Brooke's brain revealed ruptured aneurysm in her brain, which was surgically repaired. It is believed the aneurysm ruptured before the accident occurred. Facing enormous obstacles, the doctors and nursing staff at Orlando Regional Medical Center worked tirelessly to provide a positive outcome for Brooke. Despite their efforts however, her injuries were too severe to overcome. On the 10th day, March 5, 2014, doctors announced that her injuries had progressed to where she had permanently lost all brain function and was declared brain dead. Brooke was a registered organ donor and her family honored her wish. Through the coordinated efforts of doctors, nurses, Our Legacy, A Donate Life organization and the love of God, Brooke’s donation of her heart, liver, kidneys, pancreas, and both corneas has given others the gift of life. The BrookeStrong Foundation has been established as an eternal tribute to Brooke and to promote the importance of organ donation. The Foundation was created exclusively for the purposes authorized under Section 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

On March 5, 2014, our daughter Brooke became a Donor Hero. 🪽 In her final act of generosity, Brooke shared 5 gifts of life and 2 gifts of sight, giving others the chance to live, see, and experience moments their families once feared were lost.💚🩵♻️

The BrookeStrong Foundation gathers each year for the GR8 to DON8 race —a day to honor Brooke’s life and the ripple effects of the gifts she shared.

Your support helps raise awareness, inspire donor registrations, and bring hope to families who are still waiting for their miracle—the sweetness of passing life forward—because life truly is sweetest when shared.

Together, let’s run in honor of Brooke and all donor heroes, walk in love, and celebrate the Gift of Life.

Team shirts (SPF for our Florida Sun) are limited, so sign up early to secure yours!
