In the heart of Milan, iQ Hotel Milano is proving that smart, city‑center hospitality can still be kind to the planet. Since 2019, the team has worked with Clean the World to collect used soaps and plastic amenities, turning everyday guest waste into hygiene products for communities in need, water savings, and real carbon reductions. This is what responsible urban hospitality looks like when design, guests, and impact are all part of the same story.

Happy Earth Day 🌍

Did you know that every day, hotels discard millions of soap bars and plastic bottles after a single guest use? Most of it goes straight to a landfill. But that soap still works. And that plastic can be recycled.

Since 2009, Clean the World has collected over 32 million pounds of hotel waste and turned it into good. 100 million bars of recycled soap distributed. Over 17 million people supported globally. 8,600 hotel partners and counting.

This Earth Day, here's how you can help. Ask your hotel if they recycle soap and plastic. Try one zero waste swap this week. Or simply share this post to spread the word.

Every small action adds up. 💚

We could not be prouder.

Our founder and CEO, Shawn Seipler, has just been named an Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2026 Florida finalist by EY US. One of 35 in the entire state, and we are humbled to see him recognized alongside so many remarkable entrepreneurs.

17 years ago, Shawn was in a hotel room staring at a barely-used bar of soap, wondering why the world was throwing it away while kids were dying from diseases it could prevent.

So he quit his job. He started melting soap down in a one-car garage in Orlando with a few friends, a meat grinder, and a belief that hospitality waste could save lives.

More than 100 million bars of soap and 13 million pounds of plastic later, he is still at it.

Shawn, thank you for seeing what no one else saw, and for not letting it go. We cannot wait to cheer you on in Miami on June 12.

Canada's tourism sector is booming, and luxury properties like Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu are proving that sustainability and exceptional guest experience go hand in hand. Since March 2024, this historic French-Château-style resort perched above the St. Lawrence River has diverted 1,757 kg of soap and plastic amenities from landfill through Clean the World's Global Hospitality Recycling Program. The results: 10,111 bars of soap distributed to communities in need, 605 kg of carbon reduced, and 3,683 gallons of water saved. Hotels across Canada now face growing pressure to manage waste responsibly while meeting guest expectations for sustainability. Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu is showing what's possible when luxury hospitality meets forward-thinking environmental action.

DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station is showing what hotel sustainability looks like day to day: since 2021, the team has diverted 4,458 kg of in‑room plastic bottled amenities from landfill by partnering with Clean the World’s Global Hospitality Recycling Program. From tracking “Travel with Purpose” goals in LightStay to sharing clear impact data with guests and stakeholders, this is a practical example of how a single property can cut waste, protect the planet, and support communities at the same time.

Happy Global Recycling Day!

Here's something most people don't know: most hotel amenity bottles never get recycled. Not because nobody cares, but because most recyclers won't take them. The mixed plastics, the pumps, the caps. They're too complicated, too mixed, too much trouble.

We built our entire model around that problem. And we recently took it a step further with a brand new recycling machine in Orlando that processes these bottles in-house, turning hospitality waste into new raw material.

To every hotel partner who ships us their amenities, thank you. You're the reason this works.

What does hotel sustainability look like in real life? For Green Hotel Club members in Amsterdam, it means thousands of kilos of plastic amenities kept out of landfill and turned into measurable progress. Our new case study follows DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station and other partners using Clean the World’s Global Hospitality Recycling Program to cut waste, report on impact, and support communities in need.
