We are proud to celebrate Rose, an Orkeeswa student and talented basketball player, who has travelled to Berlin to represent Tanzania at the adidas x ALBA Next Up Women’s Basketball Tournament in Germany.

As part of the Giants of Africa (GOA) Festival alumni team, Rose is joining talented young women from across Africa for this exciting four-day international basketball experience.

This is more than basketball. It is a moment of courage, opportunity, and representation — and a powerful reminder of what our students can achieve when their talents are nurtured and their dreams are given room to grow. Giants of Africa

We are proud to celebrate Emmanuel, an Orkeeswa alum and founder of Primetel, whose journey continues to be rooted in one powerful purpose: making healthcare and mental-health support more accessible to communities.

Emmanuel has also had the opportunity to attend and learn from the Friendship Bench—a pioneering Zimbabwean community-based mental-health approach built around empathy, connection, safe spaces, and practical problem-solving.

Now, he is taking that spirit of community-centered care to Cape Town, South Africa, where he will represent Primetel at the 18th World Congress on Public Health. From the Orkeeswa classroom, to community impact, to global conversations on public health—this is what it looks like when education becomes purpose and purpose becomes impact. At Orkeeswa, students are gaining practical skills that connect learning to real life. From baking and making products to exploring different hands-on activities, learners are building confidence, creativity, teamwork, and an entrepreneurial mindset.

These experiences give students the opportunity to discover their strengths, learn from one another, and see how their skills and ideas can create possibilities for themselves and their communities. We believe that education is not only about what students know, but also about what they can do, create, and contribute.

“Although my childhood dream was to become a doctor, Orkeeswa taught me that I do not have to limit myself to a single path. Robotics, Computer class, and Filmmaking showed me that every new skill is an opportunity to solve problems, empower others, and serve my community in a different way. At Orkeeswa, education goes beyond the classroom. We nurture young people to grow academically, personally, and socially while equipping them with the knowledge, skills, confidence, and values to become agents of positive change.

Through youth-driven and community-led development, students learn to listen to their communities, identify local challenges, create solutions, and take action. From leadership and entrepreneurship to environmental stewardship and community engagement, learning becomes a pathway to meaningful impact.
