“One of the best gifts that one can offer is time.” Tom Goehle

With years of experience coaching at programs including Nebraska, South Dakota, Coastal Carolina, and North Dakota State, Coach Tom Goehle has impacted countless athletes throughout his career. Coach Tom has spent decades building athletes, teams, and leaders — from championship runs and NCAA Tournament appearances to mentoring young people far beyond basketball. Thank you for spending your time with the Orkeeswa community. Your visit, conversations, and presence reminded us how meaningful it is when people pour into others with purpose. It reflects what we believe at Orkeeswa: “I am because we are.”

At Orkeeswa School, students are empowered to find their voices through our Story Lab program where students build storytelling skills and explore community issues with empathy. As part of this program, 8th grade students created Lais, a film raising awareness about mental health in schools and the wider community.

“Through Lais, I realized that we can create meaningful stories from the experiences around us. We wanted to tell a story that people in our community can relate to. That way, people can see themselves in the film, connect with it emotionally, and learn from it in a deeper way. We worked very hard on Lais.I feel proud knowing that our work can encourage people to reflect on issues happening around them and change harmful behaviors. Lais is a short film, but it gave me confidence that one day I can create something even bigger” Eva.

Orkeeswa School, where creativity takes shape!!!
Whittling Club gives our students the chance to explore the art of three-dimensional design through hands-on projects. By carving, building, and assembling sculptures, they develop artistic expression, problem-solving skills, and confidence in bringing their ideas to life.

We are incredibly proud and honored to celebrate Rose, our amazing 9th grader, for being recognized as the Best Young Female Athlete of the Year nationwide! Rose was also the top scorer at the FIBA Afrobasket Championships in Kigali, and Rookie of the year at the Taifa Cup (Tanzania National Competitions)!

This is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when young people are given opportunities to discover their passions, develop their talents, and shine on both national and international stages.

We had a new group of preform students who were so excited to learn about photography for the first time. They eagerly explored the cameras, and asked thoughtful questions. For many of them, it is their first opportunity to see the world through a lens.

Form Five students got hands-on, learning how to connect and program an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen! 🖥️ This small but powerful display connects to a circuit through a socket and can show text, numbers, sensor readings, and more, all controlled through programming. Students learned how to bring the screen to life with code, building the confidence and skills they’ll need to incorporate visual displays into bigger, more exciting projects.👨‍💻
