Jonathan Stemberger, 2026 alum, is a plein air painter based in Orlando, Florida, whose work explores nature and humanity through a style he calls New Wave Impressionism. Inspired by Psalm 19:1–2, his paintings reflect the glory of creation and the presence of the divine in everyday life. He earned a BFA from the University of Central Florida and pursued independent study under master painters Don Sondag, Tom Sadler, and Stacy Barter.

Stemberger is a Spotlight Artist at CityArts Gallery and has curated multiple solo exhibitions, including Poolside, Cypress 36, Into the Shadow Realm, Story à la Mode, and Suchness. He also engages with the local art community through drawing groups such as Orlando Sketchbook Club, Urban Sketchers, Mystery Sketch Theater, Draw Lab, and Fruits. Stemberger’s work emphasizes technical skill, personal expression, and the integration of faith and artistry.

Nate Fleming, 2026 alum, is an independent musician and producer based in Orlando, Florida. An Orlando native and graduate of the University of Central Florida’s Entertainment Management program, Nate explored storytelling, visual art, and animation before focusing on music. He began playing violin in fourth grade and performed in concert, jazz, and marching bands before discovering music production at age 17.

In 2022, he released Right My Wrongs, accompanied by a music video that won Best Music Video at the International Christian Film Festival. That same year, he joined his church’s worship team, deepening his passion for Christ-centered music and worship ministry. In 2024, Nate released three worship cover songs, followed by three original songs in 2025. He has also served as a recording studio intern, live audio engineer, and a ca****la vocalist and vocal percussionist at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

No Greater Love was a night to remember—celebrating the meaningful work of our four fellows, the 5th anniversary of Arts Fellowship Orlando, and the intersection of art and faith. Thank you to our 2026 fellows Anton Faynberg (pianist), Nathon Fleming (songwriter/musician), Lawrence Rooney (choral director), and Jonathan Stemberger (plein air painter) for sharing your incredible talents!

What made it extra special is that it was an all-AFO showcase, featuring several of our alumni alongside our fellows. From our alumni, we enjoyed spoken word by camaragaither, saxophone by Emmanuel Garilus, paintings by Kathleen Safi, and choreography by Lauren Theriault. Thank you all for contributing to this wonderful night.

And thank you to our church, First Presbyterian Church of Orlando for sustaining this arts ministry and uplifting Christian artists.

When we nurture Christ-centered artists in the intersection of art and faith, they are able to meaningfully share the gospel in just the way our culture needs to see it, hear it, experience it. As the arts ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, Arts Fellowship Orlando is proud to offer artists

• Theological training designed with the artist in mind
• The opportunity to work with a renowned mentor in their field
• Opportunities to be featured in multiple showcases and programs
• 1:1 personal spiritual direction
• 1:1 discipleship appointments
• Various opportunities to network, collaborate, and grow in camaraderie with other Christian artists

“In the art world, every single conversation is one of scarcity. It was depleting my joy. That’s one of the dark underbellies of the creative life,” says Rebecca Fox, 2022 alum. “And then to suddenly come across people—and not just any people, but the church—who would say, ‘We believe this is so important, that God has called you to this, that you will edify the body of Christ. We’re going to change the narrative. Abundance. Rejoicing.’”

If this quote doesn’t sum up what we’re doing here at Arts Fellowship Orlando, we don’t know what does. As the arts ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, we come alongside Christian artists, pair them with artistic mentors in their discipline, nurture them theologically and spiritually, and provide for them the opportunity to create an original work of art and share it with our community.

Congratulations to 2024 alum Kristen Valle Yann for being featured in Southwest Art’s “21 Under 31”! This is a special issue to highlight “young artists to watch.” We love to witness how she infuses her faith into her artistry, reflecting God’s creation and the nuances of being in relationship with Him and others. Visit https://www.southwestart.com/articles-interviews/21-under-31-2026-kristen-valle-yann to read the article.

What is Kristen up to artistically right now? She’s in the midst of creating for her series, FL GRL, a “body of work that further explores longing, memory, and the tension between permanence and impermanence rooted in glimpses of Old Florida.” Kristen began the FL GRL series during her time with the Arts Fellowship and you can view her presentation during the 2024 showcase at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpcOexuCJEM.

You can keep up with Kristen Valle Yann, Fine Artist by following her here on Facebook and by visiting her website, kristenyann.com.
