This morning, 6 years ago, was the darkest day of the Syrian Tragedy, Assad militia literally slaughtered 107 civilians including more than 32 children with knives in the massacre.
The children were found handcuffed & brutally slaughtered along with the parents. Then shot after they were killed.

Statement on U.S. Airstrikes in Syria

WASHINGTON D.C., April 13, 2018 –


The Syrian American Council applauds the decision of US President Trump, UK Prime Minister May, and French President Macron to take action in Syria, enforcing international law principles that prohibit the use of chemical weapons. We send our appreciation to the U.S. administration, along with France and Britain, for holding the Assad regime accountable for last weekend's chemical attack in Douma.


We urge the coalition to sustain action and to ground Assad’s air force. In the wake of the Assad regime and its allies' continued failure to respect UN Security Council resolutions and its insistence in partaking in the most egregious mass atrocities--chemical weapons use being only one of them, we call for the creation of a no-fly zone to disable the Assad regime’s ability to commit further war crimes and to force the regime to partake in legitimate political negotiations.

While we support the coalition strikes, we stress that any use of force carried out by the United States and its allies take every care to protect civilians and to prioritize their safety.

We, as the Syrian American Council, remain steadfast in our mission to amplify the demands of freedom and democracy that continue to be iterated by the Syrian people, over seven years since they first peacefully took to the streets to speak up against a brutal dictator.
