The South Florida Water Management District hold conservation easements over the Osceola County part of Split Oak. On Thursday their governing board is voting on releasing them. You written comments opposing this are due today at noon. Email your comments to the District Clerk, Molly Brown, [email protected]. A simple comment like 'I ask that the board members vote no on Items 15 and 16 releasing the WMD's easements on Split Oak Forest'. Also please register for the board meeting or attend in person if possible. The registration link is in the comments as is a link to the agenda.

Mayor Sheldon presided over the 9th annual Gopher Tortoise Day yesterday! An amazingly fun, educational and perfect-day time for all honoring the most precious residents of Split Oak Forest! It was created for them!!

In celebration of Gopher Tortoise Day, the Wildlands Conservation team will be joining the Turtle Survival Alliance for a fun day supporting conservation efforts at First Magnitude Brewing Co. in Gainsville on April 11th.
