The Johns Hopkins University Special Pathogen Center’s Project is offering a cost-free, CME/CEU-awarding virtual course aimed at non-university-affiliated Urgent Care practitioners, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses.

The course requires monthly attendance (for 9 months beginning in August) at a 75-minute Zoom session, during which high-consequence infectious disease cases are discussed, and a lecture is provided.

3-I Paradigm-Focused Course Content Outcomes

· IDENTIFY. Tier 4-W increased knowledge about HCIDs, including critical history-taking questions, common symptoms and physical signs, incubation periods, and transmission modes. Modules will include HCID clinical case discussions, an overview of the importance of activating the 3-I paradigm, and didactic lectures. Participants will earn continuing education credits.

· ISOLATE. Tier 4-W increased knowledge of how to keep themselves safe when interacting with a patient with a suspected high-consequence infectious disease. Training will include proper use of personal protective equipment, infection control procedures, and proper handling of hazardous contaminated materials.

· INFORM. Enhance Tier 4-W knowledge of and ability to use the communication systems within their clinical chain of command, engaging with public health teams and JHH BCU/JHSPC when needed. The presentation of case studies in each Project ECHO session will give practitioners the opportunity to discuss clinical cases and deepen their understanding of the 3-I paradigm in a real-life scenario.
