A big thank you to the Kiwanis Club of Orlando for showing up for our community! 💙

The Kiwanis Club of Orlando recently dropped off a generous $2,360 donation along with canned goods to support our Emergency Food Pantry.

Every donation helps us keep nutritious food available for families in our community who are facing food insecurity. Your generosity helps fill our shelves, stretch grocery budgets, and ensure that our neighbors have access to the food they need.

Thank you, Kiwanis Club of Orlando, for investing in our community and helping us continue to provide a hand UP to those who need it most!

🌎 World Humanitarian Day

Humanity is more than a word—it’s a choice to show up, lend a hand, and make sure no one has to face hardship alone.

Today, we recognize the humanitarian workers, volunteers, nonprofit organizations, and community members who step forward when people need help most. From responding to emergencies and providing food to connecting families with resources and creating pathways toward stability, this work is about one thing: making sure people are not facing difficult moments alone.

At United Against Poverty Orlando, we see every day what it means to serve with compassion and dignity. Whether a family is putting food on the table, navigating a crisis, or working toward a more stable future, we believe everyone deserves access to the support and opportunities they need to move forward.

Humanitarian action doesn't only happen during global crises. It happens in our communities, too—in the moments when someone chooses to care, serve, advocate, and take action.

Today, we celebrate everyone who helps build a stronger, more compassionate community. 💙

Together, we can create a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Today was a powerful reminder of what community can accomplish. 💙

Today, we were honored to serve as Capella University nonprofit partner for their conference. It was inspiring to see students from Capella's Clinical Psychology programs come together with a shared commitment to giving back to our community.

Together, they assembled 250 hygiene kits that will be distributed to individuals and families who visit United Against Poverty Orlando. Each kit is filled with essential personal care items and packed with compassion, helping provide dignity and support to neighbors facing difficult circumstances.

Partnerships like this make a meaningful difference. By working together, we're able to meet immediate needs while empowering individuals and families on their journey toward economic self-sufficiency.

A heartfelt thank you to Capella University, its faculty, and every student who volunteered their time and energy today. Thank you for choosing United Against Poverty Orlando as your nonprofit partner and for helping create a lasting impact in our community. We are grateful for your support and look forward to partnering again in the future!

💙 Happy National Nonprofit Day! 💙

Today, we’re celebrating the people who make nonprofit work possible: the volunteers who show up, the donors who give, the community partners who step in, and the team members who work every day to make a difference.

At United Against Poverty Orlando, we see every day what happens when a community comes together. From helping families put food on the table through our Member Share Grocery Program, to providing crisis support and creating pathways toward employment and greater economic stability, our work is about more than meeting an immediate need. It’s about helping people move forward.

And we couldn’t do it alone.

Every food donation, volunteer hour, financial contribution, partnership, and word of encouragement helps us reach more families and create more opportunities.

To every person, business, organization, and community partner who has stood alongside UP Orlando: thank you for believing in the power of community. 🫶

Here’s to the nonprofit organizations working every day to make our communities stronger, more equitable, and more hopeful.

🌿🖤 This Indigenous Peoples Day, we’re recognizing Sean Sherman, also known as “The Sioux Chef,” an Oglala Lakota chef, educator, and advocate for Indigenous food sovereignty.

Growing up in South Dakota, Sherman learned about Indigenous food traditions and the importance of gathering, preparing, and sharing food. As he built his career as a chef, he realized that many Indigenous food traditions had been lost or pushed aside over generations. That realization inspired him to reconnect with those traditions and share them with others.

Today, Sherman is a leading voice in Indigenous food education and food sovereignty. Through his work with the Indigenous Food Lab, he helps preserve Indigenous knowledge while educating communities about traditional foods, sustainable food systems, and the connection between food, culture, and community.

His story is a powerful reminder that food is about more than what is on the table. It can be a pathway to education, opportunity, cultural connection, and stronger communities.

At , we carry forward that spirit by empowering and UPlifting individuals and families with the tools, resources, and support they need.

🖤 Honoring history. ✊🏽 Building opportunity. 💙 Breaking the cycle of poverty.
