This Hispanic Heritage Month, we're spotlighting FPRA Orlando Area Chapter student member Anna Petitjean Nieves! Born in Venezuela 🇻🇪 and raised in South Florida, Anna shares how her Hispanic heritage has shaped her identity and passion for storytelling. Her upbringing continues to inspire how she approaches communications while staying connected to her roots.

We had a blast connecting with students at UCF’s Intern Pursuit! 🎓 It was great meeting so many new faces, sharing more about FPRA Orlando and talking about the benefits of being a student member.

And… we’re also hiring a Spring 2027 intern!

This is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience supporting a nonprofit board, helping plan and promote professional development events, creating social media content, conducting research and more.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re highlighting FPRA Orlando Chapter member Jennifer Marcial Ocasio and a perspective shaped by her journey from Puerto Rico to Florida.

For Jennifer, understanding her place within the broader Hispanic and Latino community came with leaving the island—and with it, a deeper appreciation for the connections that unite us across cultures and borders.

Her story is also a reminder of why representation matters in communications: the stories we tell have the power to help people feel seen, understood and included.

Este Mes de la Herencia Hispana, destacamos a Jennifer Marcial Ocasio, miembro del Capítulo de Orlando de FPRA, y una perspectiva marcada por su trayectoria de Puerto Rico a Florida.

Para Jennifer, comprender su lugar dentro de la comunidad hispana y latina más amplia vino después de mudarse de la isla y, con ello, llegó una mayor apreciación por las conexiones que nos unen a través de culturas y fronteras.

Su historia también nos recuerda por qué la representación importa en las comunicaciones: las historias que contamos tienen el poder de ayudar a las personas a sentirse vistas, comprendidas e incluidas.

Thank you to Orlando Magic leaders Joel Glass,Trish Wingerson, and everyone who joined us at the Kia Center for "A Day in the Life of Sports PR."

From preparing players for media attention to navigating the unexpected, we got an inside look at what it takes to succeed in the fast-paced world of sports PR. One takeaway that stuck with us: Every interaction is an opportunity to make an impact. Know your audience, be intentional with your message, and remember that what you say, how you say it, and how you show up can leave a lasting impression.
