We survived Hurricane Isaias with no damage to the rescue, and we’re so thankful. Again, thank you all for coming together so big for us, willing to help! If I didn’t get a chance to get back to you for your offer to foster before the storm came, I will be in touch with you! It will be nice to have a list of emergency fosters for situations that may arise in the future.

We had five of our babies fostered and they have all done great! By fostering, we learn so much more about our Covey Hill dogs. For instance, we always said Rosie isn’t cat friendly, yet she was hanging out with two cats at the foster home and they all got along so well. She’s house trained also, and never had an accident. We had Rosie and Kash both recovering from surgeries, so this also gave them a quiet place to heal, away from the sometimes noisy rescue. The other Covey Hill dogs did great too! We had a little talk with each dog to put on their best charm and make the fosters fall in love. 😍 We will see how many foster fails we have after this is finished. If not, even a night or two away from the rescue helps us and them learn so much.

Well everyone! I think we’re good here. I’m sorry for those I haven’t had a chance to get to yet about fostering. We were up early to put up additional tarps and get ready for the hurricane so thank you to friends who showed up to help! Then we had a visit from the Dept of Ag (new agent coming by to introduce herself and then did our inspection) to be sure we’re ok before the storm, so we’ve all been busy this morning/afternoon. All of our babies have their chew sticks and ready for the hurricane. Thank you again to those who were able to pick up their fosters yesterday. Let’s pray this won’t produce tornadoes or damaging winds. Everyone stay safe!

We’re blown away with so many offers to help foster some of the dogs for the weekend! So far today we have 4 placed in homes already, with a few more people we’re working to find the best fit for their households/families. Our last foster just left a few minutes ago, so if I didn’t get back to you today, I am working on matching up a dog for you & will be in touch by the morning. Thank you all again so much!

I know a lot of our posts lately haven’t been very happy, due to our little disasters that have happened lately. Sometimes life just throws one thing after another at you. Just when I feel like we’re not making a difference or when things seem too much to handle, we have so many reminders that people really care. These sweet gestures are what can keep us on track!

Today we had another sweet visitor who spent the day here offering all kinds of help. But the first thing this sweet lady did, before even getting out of her car, was present this to gift to me. It was from a recent conference at her church and she said this handkerchief had been prayed over by many women in attendance. What a very thoughtful gift. I will carry this with me. ❤️

Our sweet Rosie had surgery today to remove a large tumor from her leg/side. Our last 2 puppies had their 3rd shots, and we tried to save a kitten that was found, but the poor baby had so many health issues that she couldn’t be saved. That’s the worst part of rescue and loving animals, but it’s also the kindest act to end any suffering.

We would like to thank our supporters/friends who donate to our rescue. We appreciate each donation and also all the support and love shown to us and our fur babies here. One of my favorite teachers made a generous donation, and one of our girls’ former teacher also made a generous donation. These made it possible to cover Rosie’s surgery today, and will also mostly cover Sandy’s upcoming mammary gland cancer surgery.

❤️Another update: I’m blown away from the amount of people who are offering to help! I promise I will get back to everyone as fast as possible! We’re working on getting perfect matches for everyone who is offering. This means so much to us! Thank you!

❤️Update: Thank you all so much!!! We now have at least 3 of our pups that will be fostered through the bad weather this weekend!!

We’re trying to get prepared for possible dangerous weather, so we’re looking for temporary fosters for the weekend. We have a couple of people who have come forward to help, and I’m trying to get time to visit the locations and figure out what is needed. We will be monitoring the hurricane activity and prepping for our rescue. In the mean time, if you think you would like to open your home temporarily to one of our rescue dogs, please contact us. ❤️
