Last weekend we ran Spartan and learned a lot. Nobody remembers the easy days, and this was the hardest Sprint we’ve done in a long while. What’s next?

We learned a lot last weekend. THREE were on the Spartan Sprint course for the first time. The two big lessons of the event: (1) STAY TOGETHER because we’re stronger together than we are apart; and (2) to paraphrase the awesomeness of Jason J. McCarthy | GORUCK if you don’t want to be a QUITTER, you need to QUIT QUITTING! So if you’re going to quit anything, QUIT QUITTING! Nobody got stronger doing easy things, and everyone got a little stronger last weekend.

Show up, get recognized. It feels good when the spotlight is on you, but only if you’ve EARNED that spotlight. We had a strong crew show to the Spartan race in Orlando this weekend. This program STARTED as a way to prepare for these races. Over the last 11 years it’s become so much more. Some say that what we do isn’t for everyone. But it IS for everyone. Some just aren’t ready for what it takes to build a strong community and to build strong individuals.

Dashawna RAN HER FIRST SPARTAN RACE YESTERDAY! It was hard, but not the hardest thing she’s ever done. She’s an example of strength, determination, and kindness. She embodies our team motto: No matter how little you have, you ALWAYS have something to give.

Four years ago she was airlifted in a helicopter to Shands Children’s Hospital in Gainesville. She spent several months in intensive care with a heart condition and was on the list for a heart transplant. New Image Youth Center (NIYC) moved her family to Gainesville so she could have support. A few months later she was released from the hospital, and what followed is being called a miracle. She did NOT need a new heart, she snd her family were able to move back to Orlando, and just last week her doctor told her she has no restrictions. So we’re going slowly and carefully. BUT WE’RE MOVING, and Dashawna is getting stronger every day.

We all learned a little today. First lesson: Stay together. Second lesson: Quit quitting. A beautiful day with sun and a little cloud cover and some extra work because we need to get stronger.

Why is it the smallest bring the most energy? That energy is CONTAGIOUS! It spreads. Good energy and bad energy. High energy and low energy. Think I’m wrong? Smile when you walk into every room this week. Report back on what happens. And remember, NO MATTER HOW LITTLE YOU HAVE, you ALWAYS have something to give. So give that smile and see how it impacts those around you. And see how that impacts YOU.

Just running around. This morning our strength session was a review of the things we’ve discussed so far. Leadership Non-Negotiables and the next topic on the Leadership Operating System. We focused on ACCOUNTABILITY, which goes hand-in-hand with integrity. We retested the benchmark, then ran around a little. Next week, Spartan - who we gonna see?
