In 2025, The Alliance launched Housing Justice Champions (HJC), a first-of-its-kind accelerator designed to equip Black-led CDFIs with the tools, skills, and confidence to build power locally and advance equitable housing policy.

Through the program, 10 Alliance members stepped into that power—growing their political influence and positioning themselves as leaders in the fight for housing justice in their communities.

The Alliance was never built by one voice. It was built by our founding members who dared to imagine something greater, funders who invested early and boldly, and staff and supporters who continue to carry the work forward every day.

As a committed funder, RWJFoundation recognizes the importance of strengthening community-rooted institutions, expanding access to capital, and creating pathways toward a more equitable future.

As Board Chair (2025–2026), she played a pivotal role in strengthening our network and advancing our collective mission to expand economic opportunity.

Watchen's impact on The Alliance, our members, and the broader CDFI industry will be felt for years to come. We thank her for her years of dedicated service, celebrate the legacy she leaves behind, and wish her all the best in this exciting new chapter.
