Through support from the Black Renaissance Fund, First Community Capital, Inc. has expanded its work serving the African immigrant community in Southern California, with Mission Grove Urgent Care in Riverside, California, serving as a direct example of that impact.

Affordable and flexible capital serves as a catalyst for greater impact, helping Black-led CDFIs expand their capacity, reach more businesses, and strengthen the communities they serve.

The African American Alliance of CDFI CEOs is closely reviewing the CDFI Fund’s proposed changes to the CDFI Certification Application, including the proposed elimination of race/ethnicity-based Other Targeted Populations (OTPs) as eligible Target Markets.

We’re engaging with our members to better understand the potential impact and what affected Black-led CDFIs may need to maintain certification if the proposal moves forward. What we learn will help inform the Alliance’s formal comments to the CDFI Fund ahead of the November 30 comment deadline.

Across the country, Black CDFI CEOs are building institutions rooted in community knowledge, leadership, and long-term vision.

Their work extends beyond financial services. It strengthens organizations, develops people, builds partnerships, and creates a foundation for what comes next.

Dr. LaDonna Boyd, President & CEO of R.H. Boyd, joined us as our Keynote Luncheon speaker, with Kevin J. Price, President & CEO of the National Institute of Minority Economic Development, serving as our emcee.

Thank you to these incredible leaders for sharing their insights and helping us kick off a day of conversations focused on what it takes to build and sustain Black wealth in the New South.
