Our Story
Even as a kid, I had a love for other kids in my neighborhood. I was raised in Haiti but have been in the U.S. of America most of my adult life. The U.S. became my home. I married, gave birth to three boys and one girl but raised six children successfully into adulthood. By the Grace of God, and with that experience, I became the mother, the counselor, and the cheerleader of all my children's teenage friends at their schools and at the church.
Seeing them become good citizens, I decided 4 years ago to keep my community by working at saving more lives. today's world can be very challenging for children and families. A good section of the population cannot afford to reqard social activities. Violence on TV, video games, and the streets are offering our children a way of life devoid of empathy, compassion and accountability towards others. In the past years, I started a program serving the children in the community on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
From 3 PM to 8 PM the children have a safe place to be during the week-end. They are learning good social skills while participating in group activities like chorus, dancing, stepping and sports. We also provide snacks and a hot meal. Our services are free of charge and we want to keep it that way. Up until now I have been spending my own money and a small team of supporters have been helping with the project. Expanding the program to at least 100 children with our own center is our goal in the Community. There is a real need for such a center and we will continue to work until we meet our goals. Thank you for visiting us as we continue to make the world a better place!
