Before SCUBA, diving in the Florida Keys was a whole different operation. Early divers wore heavy helmets and suits, relying on teams of up to seven people on the surface to support a single diver underwater.

As diving technology evolved, exploring the underwater world became easier. Today, divers come from around the globe to discover the Keys’ vibrant reefs, coral and historic shipwrecks, each with a story of its own.

Look closely at the rusty rails in the foreground. They’re part of the remnants of Henry Flagler’s original Florida East Coast Railway, which once carried trains across the Florida Keys. Today, a restored 2.2-mile section of the Old Seven Mile Bridge serves as a pedestrian walkway leading to Pigeon Key, where workers once lived while building Flagler’s ambitious railroad.

A new adventure is coming to PBS KIDS! 🌟

SUPER WHY!'s Comic Book Adventures has joined the PBS KIDS lineup, helping preschoolers and kindergartners build early literacy skills through stories, superheroes and plenty of imagination.

You’ll find it at 9:30 a.m. on the WUCF PBS KIDS broadcast channel. It will also be available on the PBS KIDS video app and PBS KIDS YouTube channels.

As part of the schedule update, Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum will no longer air on the PBS KIDS broadcast schedule, but families can still watch it on the PBS KIDS Channel and across PBS KIDS streaming platforms.
