Before he was a Hollywood heartthrob, Burt Reynolds wanted to be a football star. Before the mustache and movie fame, Reynolds was an all-state halfback at Palm Beach High School and played football at Florida State.

An injury ended his football career, but not his connection to FSU.

Reynolds remained close with former roommate and teammate Lee Corso, among others. 📺 Subscribe to Florida Road Trip on YouTube and get ready for the brand-new season, premiering Sept. 17!

Dolly Parton, one of the most beloved and influential figures in American music, has died at 80.

Through her Imagination Library, she helped put books into the hands of millions of children, investing in the lives and possibilities of the generations to come. That same spirit of kindness, generosity and selflessness was woven into so much of what the Queen of Country Music did.

In the recent PBS documentary Dolly: Here I Am, she talks about the philosophy behind “Coat of Many Colors”...a lifelong belief in embracing what makes us different and finding joy in who we are.

What a beautiful legacy to leave behind. Rest in peace, Dolly. 🦋

What can a ketchup packet, a bar of soap, a comic book and soda cans tell us about 1976 America?

Nearly 50 years ago, UCF history professor Dr. Richard Crepeau asked his students to collect Bicentennial memorabilia celebrating America’s 200th anniversary. What looked like “junk” at the time has become a fascinating snapshot of everyday life during one of the nation’s biggest celebrations.

Now, a new generation of UCF students is bringing the collection back to life. 📍 The Bicentennial Junk exhibit is on display at UCF's John C. Hitt Library through September 30.
