Today, Faith in Florida visited Historic Virginia Key Beach Park during our Black History Tour of Miami—standing on ground that holds an important piece of our history.
Established in 1945, Virginia Key Beach became Miami-Dade County’s first official beach for African Americans—a place where Black families gathered, celebrated, and experienced joy in the midst of segregation.
Today, we walked this historic ground remembering those who came before us and the communities that refused to let segregation define their dignity or their future.
We remember. We learn. We carry the story forward.
