Central Florida Disaster Medical Coalition is pleased to announce that Diane Hilliard has joined the Coalition as the Deputy Director.

Diane brings more than 20 years of emergency management and preparedness experience across local government, the private sector, medical special needs, access and functional needs, and K–12 emergency management. Throughout her career, she has worked across the full emergency management cycle, building partnerships, coordinating resources, developing plans and exercises, and supporting organizations during crises. Her diverse experience directly supports CFDMC’s mission to strengthen healthcare preparedness and resilience across the region. In her role as Deputy Director, Diane will support CFDMC members by facilitating information sharing and situational awareness, strengthening resource and mutual aid coordination, and helping members build the capacity and capabilities needed to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters. Her approach is grounded in collaboration, recognizing that strong partnerships and a well-connected Coalition are essential to protecting healthcare operations, supporting medical surge, and strengthening the resilience of communities throughout Central Florida.

Summer Self Care

With temperatures climbing into the mid-90s across Central Florida and afternoon storms becoming part of our daily routine, it's a good reminder that summer doesn't just affect our physical health; it can impact our mental well-being, too.

Research has found that periods of extreme heat are associated with increased stress, irritability, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, and worsening symptoms for individuals living with mental health conditions. Staying hydrated, limiting time outdoors during the hottest parts of the day, and making time to rest can benefit both your body and your mind.

As you enjoy everything summer has to offer, remember to check in with yourself:

• Am I getting enough rest?
• Have I been drinking enough water?
• Have I taken a break from the heat today?
• How am I feeling, physically and emotionally?

Sometimes, small acts of self-care can make a meaningful difference.

This is a new full-time senior level position, serving as a back-up to the CFDMC Executive Director, ensuring redundancy in all criterial coalition operations and contract deliverables. May 21st is National Stop the Bleed Day. The theme “Minutes Matter” reminds us that minutes determine the outcome when someone is bleeding severely. Every person trained in Stop The Bleed may be able to save a life.
